Maine was caught up in the 3rd opium war in the US as much of it was during Bushes run and Obama's. Lewiston was easily ignored shit hole democratic stronghold.
My only memory of Maine was when we drove all the way from DC to Maine over a July 4th weekend, camped in some national park and enjoyed an amazing night watching the fireworks. That was 2 decades ago. I guess its a very different place now.

maine is still awesome. lewiston and portland are the only places that have really changed.
