The Southern coal fields of WV are actually very diverse but people think they know better for some reason. We are families of endentured servants, prisoners & slaves forced to work in the mines. WV has a huge Greek-Orthodox Persian, Lebanese & Jordanian community. Chinese & African families stayed after railroad & mine construction. Celtic & Scandinavian people have settled full towns that still speak Dutch or Gaelic. The North is Italian, Greek & Mediterranean. The Krishnas have temples here too. Mound-building Indigenous People are vocal & abundant as well. We only see one color: green. It's so impoverished that we understand we're all the same shade of 'poor as fuck & forgotten'. The only state with the balls to say 'Fuck North or South, were separating West. Slavery is bullshit'. I actually graduated from one of the oldest HBCs ( Historically Black College ) in the US, founded in 1891 in Charleston. Most people think we really are toothless, racist, uneducated white assholes. It's like assuming everyone in England is royal because you've never been there & youre ignorant.
