Great question! As a former democrat myself, I think I can help. The main thing to stress is the democratic party of today is not the democratic party of 30 or even 20 years ago. Most people who identify more with Dems do so because the democrats had built a reputation of looking out for the "Joe six packs" of the country. The working class, The union members ect. Show them how this is no longer the case. Show how globalization hurts the middle class more than anyone in America. Show them the videos of the Dems making speeches about stopping illegal immigration only a few years ago. Throw the necons of the 90's and 2000's under the bus if you have to. Show them how they attacked Trump in the debates and did everything to stop him from winning the nomination. These augments won't work with the far left but older more centrist minded democrats will take note.
I would suggest asking about specific topics. it will get you better responses. List a few topics that come up often in your discussions.
A couple of tips:
Libs will often give a "laundry list" of reasons they don't like Trump. Don't try to counter them all. Pick one and focus on it only.
Ask them to give specific examples of what they are accusing President Trump.
Also - limit your expectations; be aware of the cognitive bias of naive realism
