What benefit to society does diversity have to offer? I can't think of any benefits, but I can think of a detriment. Scumbag politicians will play identity politics to divide people.

Diversity of skill: great

Diversity of skin: should not have any effect.

Forcing diversity of skin regardless of skill: racist, but speaking out against it somehow makes you racist.

Skin colour is not the sole difference between races. It's the most externally obvious expression of several traits that tend to occur together in the human gene pool. It absolutely can have an effect, because skin pigment is just a proxy really.
