It's always the white Dems that try to remove Indians from everything. The actual Indians didn't give a fuck about sports teams being named after them and in fact, many Indians think it's an honor to have a sports team named after them.
Very true. An old family friend that I've known all my life is Native, and he was the announcer for the local high school football team for probably over 20 years. He straight up quit when they changed the school's team name from "the Indians" to something else.
Plus every time I've seen an Indian/Brave/Warrior/Redskin mascot, they are as respectable as can be to Natives. I was a high school mascot so when I would study other mascots I noticed there were never cases of an Indian running out and doing a 'hey ya hoya hey ya hoya" or anything else. I also know that when University of Illinois had Chief Illini, the mascot would actually get input from members of the Illini tribe on how they did their rituals/dances and go from there. The whole purging of Native sports teams in the name of fighting racism has been nothing but the white liberal left fighting an enemy that was never there to begin with.
Consulting the local tribe is really cool, I haven't heard of that for sports mascots. That's such a good way for non-natives to learn a little about the tribe. This New Jim Crow of segregating and purging ethnic imagery does nothing to help people learn, and only fosters resentment and hostility.
