So one of the guys in my battalion is a praciticing Sikh, well not too long ago, we started working out together. And we started hanging out a lot. And our battalion because they had us on lockdown so we couldn't take block leave in the summer. We got to make up for it recently.

Well, before i left to go home, I posted a photo of one of my gym workouts with my buddy.

Well my one cousin is a complete baby freshman at a four year university and is basically drinking the kool aid, and she knows I voted Trump, and starts bitching at me as to how I can have a muslim friend and still vote Trump.

Well my buddy goes 'I'm not a muslim I'm a Sikh.' Well....she then pisses him off because she apparently thinks that Sikh is another word for Sunni Islam. And then proceeds to lecture him on not lying about who he is.

He basically reiterates he is not a muslim and her response is 'then why do you wear a turban?'

Well.....my friends, Sikh's are some of the nicest people I ever met, but daaaammmn, he started tearing her a new asshole.

Sikhs, in my experience, hate being called Muslim....big no, no. I understand why. I hope the ripping actually leaves an impression on her.

TDCRedpill 96 points ago +96 / -0

If a core component of your religion is to never ever be unarmed in case a Muslim decides you need conversion....yeah, they won't care for it.

Love me some Sikh's. I know almost nothing of their religion, but they practice being good and kind, and that's no small task to me.

Not just against a Muslim, but against any aggressor that puts yourself or others at risk.

Ok, here is a little story about a Sikh. This happened long long ago. It was after a great battle where a Sikh stronghold was being attacked. After the battle ended for the evening (that's how long ago it was), the Sikh medic went out to treat the wounded. After awhile he was joined by a young companion. The young man was astonished, "Why are you treating the enemy?" The medic was like, "What? That's a silly question." That isn't what he actually said, but captures his attitude.

"they practice being good and kind"

So weird that we have to defend such true virtues but sure enough we do and we are and I'm impressed so much that we have been.

We're winning but we must be diligent. And I know I'm preaching to the choir.

JKillen 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't know much about them either but I just can't think of anything they've done to make headlines like Muslims and the Left have

34
brassmule 34 points ago +34 / -0

Yup. Confusing a Sikh for an Islam cultist is like... confusing a conservative for a fascist. Total opposites.

Sadly it seems like pretty popular things for leftists to do these days!

Sikhs have a long history of battling muslims, and they don't take kindly to being associated with them.

7
aaafirefly123 7 points ago +7 / -0

Lot of bad blood between Sikhs and Muslims.

In fact their shared hatred for Islam is why Sikhs and Hindus can still work together.

It's not surprising that somebody ignorant enough to be a progressive is also ignorant enough to start explaining a culture he/she knows nothing about to somebody who is actually a member of that culture.

See the Dunning-Kruger effect :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

People who don't realize the depth of their own ignorance are often the loudest and most sure of themselves.

Thanks for posting the link - I had no idea there was a name for that behavior. Of course, progressives take care of their own πŸ˜‰: https://tolleystopics.com/2019/11/06/the-americans-with-no-abilities-act-anaa/

4
slaphappy2 4 points ago +4 / -0

Sadly - there is no need to pass the Americans With No Abilities Act - since we already have Affirmative Action.

Just look at any big city police department you will see small women who are laughably physically unsuited to the task of apprehending a criminal.

Racial affirmative action is another obvious category.

I have met a few Sikhs, and they were all decent, hardworking people.

They are also well aware of the dangers posed by muslims.

41

Sikhs also have a very prominent warrior culture tradition. Its actually kind of cool to learn about

37

Their tradition of carrying knives comes from needing to use them on muslim invaders. Pretty based.

In America, some will carry a pocket knife or wear knife shaped jewelry to carry on that tradition.

Yep, its funny because when I was in college, we visited a Sikh temple one time and the professor teaching the course wasn't based. So to hear all the Sikhs talk was a bit triggering to her. It was funny

3
bluebahloo 3 points ago +3 / -0

What did they say that offended her?

3
AmericanWolf1776 [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

She kept referring to them as a muslim, and assumed he was one because of his turban, even after he corrected her

2
bluebahloo 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was asking about the professor on the visit to the temple. I think you're busy and didn't look which comment I was replying to!

4
AmericanWolf1776 [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Oh sorry bro, I thought you meant my cousin.

But no, the professor got mad, because someone asked them how they felt being mistaken for Muslims. And the guy who answered said something along the line of they felt insulted because they too had their struggles with the muslims and how their history of fighting off muslim invaders made them insulted that someone would confuse them for their oppressive religion.

And needless to say the professor did not like hearing 'islam bad'

2
bluebahloo 2 points ago +2 / -0

I figured it was something like this. Stating facts and ignoring an opportunity to virtue signal offending an sjw.

13
DiamondsOnTheFloor 13 points ago +13 / -0

They are also egalitarian with regard to women:

  • There are no positions in Sikhism for men only.
  • Any woman can enter a Gurdwara (Sikh temple), no area is exempt.
  • Women can serve as granthi (ceremonial reader of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book in Sikhism).
  • Women and girls have full rights to any hereditary claim (unlike in Islam, where they can only inherit half of what a man inherits).
  • Education for both women and men is very important in Sikhism.
  • The same simple dress codes apply to both women and men (Guru Granth Sahib, p.16).

Woman are specifically told not to hide themselves: β€œIt is not proper for a Sikh woman to wear a veil or keep her face hidden by veil or cover.” (Sikh Code of Conduct, Article XVI)

These were all extraordinary values to emerge in the 15th century in what is present-day Pakistan.

Most liberals that I've dealt with are without a doubt, the most racist people ever alive. I've noticed the ones that constantly virtue signal about things are the ones most likely to violate whatever it is that they virtue signal about.

Before I got banned on Twitter, liberals who respond to my tweets almost always were really racist, and highly uninformed. They call me a "white supremacist nazi" but when I explain that I'm a Christian Indian living in India, their heads just can't wrap around that idea. When I try to explain how bad socialism is here, they lecture me about how it is "not real socialism". When I try to explain my state has a Communist government in power who has turned everything into shit, they say "it is not real communism". No shit, if socialism and Communism are not real here, then I can't wait to see how much worse it will be if it is faithfully implemented.

These liberals are arrogant, misinformed, think they are superior to anyone who questions their world view and prejudices. I've had liberals who told me not to use generalizations but use generalizations themselves. I've had them say I'm "racist" when they say and believe racist things about others. I've had them call me stupid when I post sources from media that they follow daily to them when they question what I say.

Most liberals are hypocrites, racist and think they are superior to everyone else. But every time they open their mouth and yap, they just prove to the world how stupid they really are.

Sikhs are based and redpilled. One of my best friends is Sikh and he's a great guy.

4
Pedeville 4 points ago +4 / -0

The reason why they say its not 'real communism' is because its evil people inplementing it to gain power every time. They think that if they have 'good peiple' implementing it, it will be like the Amish where they live together in harmony. Thing is, the Amish doesnt force their 'communism' onto their people, and they're not diverse in thought so they all pretty much have the same ideas about how they want to live their lives.

Fucking idiots

Sikh's all seem to be pretty fucking based and sorted. Another thing I noticed is, they aren't NPC's. In every kind of group you find NPC's, but I haven't come across one. That all seems pretty intellectual and have a good grasp on the why they are what they are.

I could watch this kind of mis-informed stupidity on tv like it were a hoarders series.
It's so much easier to understand when we realize they really don't get the real information. I feel sorry for most, non-violent ones. It's almost not their fault that they're retarded (I use this in context and not insulting) but if they wish to speak out loud, they need correction.
The worst of them talk like they know it all and are authorities on the situation but the majority Biden voters just need to be gently shared of the real truth and shared the real facts that can be sourced.

Sikh soldiers in the US military are not abiding by the uniform standards. They get an exemption, and they get to wear beards, long hair and a head piece. As much as I like Sikhs, it is annoying and it pisses me off. The rest of the people in the military abide by the standard, why are Sikhs special? Pretty soon everyone in the US military is going to look different, because we will have to have a separate standard for every group. That's all well and good, but all the white people abide by the uniform standards.

5
HuggableBear 5 points ago +9 / -4

Jesus, this comment is dumb. Any full-time religious headgear is allowed. The only reason Christians don't get to wear it is because we don't have any.

2
anotherviewpoint 2 points ago +3 / -1

What about those noodle fucks...do they get to wear a colander on their head? Guess it is a kind of helment. Paint the damn thing green and give it a chin strap and there you go... (pastafarians?)

2
HuggableBear 2 points ago +2 / -0

If it's an officially recognized religion, yes. That's how liberty works. However, their "religion" only requires that on "holy days", so they wouldn't be allowed to wear it daily. Jews get to wear their yarmulkes.

Also, there are exceptions to the exception as well if it begins to affect unit cohesion or morale.

2
ShalomRPh 2 points ago +2 / -0

The Army allows Jews to wear yarmulkes. Last I heard (late 90s), the Air Force did not. I wonder if this has changed.

(Edit: I visited the Air Force academy in Colorado and asked them. I was about to graduate pharmacy school, and the AF was actively recruiting pharmacists then. You'd be commissioned as an officer on joining up, they'd help pay for your schooling, lots of benefits, but it wouldn't be possible to live as a religious Jew (no Kosher food available, wearing a yarmulke - even under a cover - would be considered out of uniform, problems with Sabbath observance, etc.) so I wasn't able to consider that as a career option. There was actually a lawsuit from one Jewish airman who wanted to wear a yarmulke, and he lost the case.)

-2
Flptplt -2 points ago +5 / -7

The whole reason why the US military has a standard is so that everyone looks alike. Are Sikhs not americans? Why do they need special exemptions? When you decide to serve in the US military, you become part of something greater than yourself, and something greater than the individual community that you come from. You decide to JOIN the military. There should be no exemptions.

-1
HuggableBear -1 points ago +3 / -4

Why do they need special exemptions

It's called the first amendment. You just gotta look it up.

1
Flptplt 1 point ago +6 / -5

The point is this, white men in the US military uphold every standard. We uphold the uniform standard, the grooming standard and every other standard. It's minorities, and only minorities, that have started asking for these exemptions. Now you have white people wanting to get exemptions too. One notable example is the Norse religion exemption.

Diversity ruins everything, and Sikhs are leading the charge on that inside the us military. We don't need them. If Sikhs want to serve in the US military, they should do it the way that white men do it. Ostensibly what they're saying is that if they cannot wear their hair long, have a beard, and wear headgear, they won't serve. Doesn't sound like they are very assimilated to me.

5
E-dantes 5 points ago +5 / -0

As a Navy veteran, you cannot ask any military member to choose the military or his country over God. I dont know any Sikhs, and have never met one, and have read a little about them. But from my Christian upbringing and walk, however imperfect, i would put it this way; God, Country, Family. In that order. I have explained this to my wife, and we are raising our children this way. And i would expect the same from any member of any religion to do the same. I would not require total and complete disregard for ones rules of faith in service to their country. For without the one, the other two are useless, and unnecessary. And requiring that one would put away the first in order to serve shows them that their service would negate our respect as fellow countrymen toward the very thing they would be fighting for; their freedom to worship as they see fit. So following that; why would they serve if the very thing they are serving for is utterly destroyed by their choice to serve?

Just my opinion.

2
Pedeville 2 points ago +2 / -0

As long as you kill the enemy wjat does it matter what you put on your head?

1
E-dantes 1 point ago +1 / -0

Some men faught without ever having taken a life. Its called conscientious objection. You can still serve in such a capacity, that does not destroy your obligations to your faith. But i do understand your sentiment.

-1
Cacciali_Via -1 points ago +1 / -2

A Christian supporting a person's right to worship false gods. It doesn't get more lukewarm than that.

1
E-dantes 1 point ago +1 / -0

Wow, you need to read your bible again. Let the dead bury their dead? Ring a bell? My daily walk with Christ has absolutely nothing to do with how i treat others, yet how i treat others has every thing to do with my daily walk with Christ. I can show him or her the way, via the bible, archeaological evidence, historical signifigance of turning points in history, but i cannot force my views on another, that is wholly and completely unChristian. Judge not, lest ye be judged.... how can you pluck the splinter from anothers eye, when you have a log residing in yours. But be sure to give God your advice on which soup is in your opinion suited best for Him

-2
Flptplt -2 points ago +2 / -4

When you volunteer to SERVE, you are expected to adhere to a new set of standards, which make us all look the same and to deal with the same challenges. Haircuts and shaving are a unique and symbolic form of enforcing adherence to a standard. It's uncomfortable and inconvenient for everyone, and it's a bonding experience. Sikhs, with their special exemptions, are not being asked to adhere to the same standard as everyone else. They're too special, snowflakes.

3
E-dantes 3 points ago +4 / -1

Shaving is for safety reasons, not because of any bond. It lessens the chances of spreading lice. Beard shaving is so that gasmasks, and fire equipment, and other facial implements can adhere to the skin so as not to allow for smoke, gas, water inhalation.

1
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 1 point ago +2 / -1

White men (and women) can be Sikhs. It's a religion, not a race, and the military allows for certain religious exemptions to the uniform standards.

1
Pedeville 1 point ago +2 / -1

You could convert to sikhism or another religion with headhear and wear it yourself. Its not like the US military banned it for white people only

0
HuggableBear 0 points ago +1 / -1

If the uniform standard were changed so that everyone had to wear a hijab, how would you feel about that?

That's how Sikhs feel about being forced to waive a God-given right that doesn't affect their combat effectiveness in order to serve their country.

0
Flptplt 0 points ago +2 / -2

Oh well, if they can't adhere to the standard, they shouldn't be in the military. and if they don't like our Western style clothing and grooming, maybe they should stay in india. I wouldn't move to India and then demand that the Indian military change their uniform and grooming standards to suit my Western sensibilities. Why should we do that for the sikhs? We don't need them.

0
HuggableBear 0 points ago +1 / -1

Good job not answering the question and just sticking with "the uniform standard should look like me because reasons".
