So one of the guys in my battalion is a praciticing Sikh, well not too long ago, we started working out together. And we started hanging out a lot. And our battalion because they had us on lockdown so we couldn't take block leave in the summer. We got to make up for it recently.

Well, before i left to go home, I posted a photo of one of my gym workouts with my buddy.

Well my one cousin is a complete baby freshman at a four year university and is basically drinking the kool aid, and she knows I voted Trump, and starts bitching at me as to how I can have a muslim friend and still vote Trump.

Well my buddy goes 'I'm not a muslim I'm a Sikh.' Well....she then pisses him off because she apparently thinks that Sikh is another word for Sunni Islam. And then proceeds to lecture him on not lying about who he is.

He basically reiterates he is not a muslim and her response is 'then why do you wear a turban?'

Well.....my friends, Sikh's are some of the nicest people I ever met, but daaaammmn, he started tearing her a new asshole.

I didn't say diversity is strength. If you want to talk about whether they should be here at all, that's a whole different conversation.

But they are here, they're American, and the constitution prevents them from being denied equal privileges due to religion. Period.

You're trying to make this about destroying institutions when the exact opposite is true. Freedom of religion is quite literally the whole reason our country exists.

And gtfo with your "I have to meet standards too". You don't have to "meet" the standard, it was designed around you. All you have to do is be clean and presentable, you don't have to forego any religious requirements to meet it.

So minorities deserve special treatment for all their wonderful differences. Just wait, more demands are incoming. Letting Sikhs defy the cultural grooming norm because of their religion is just the first surrender of many. As they say, go ahead and back down, it's only hard the first time.

If Sikhs don't want to uphold the same standard everyone else does, they should go join the Sikh military.
