We’re from Queens. I’m a construction worker and she’s a nurse. We have a few places in mind (UT, CO, TX, MT, FL, AZ)

If you were fleeing a blue state where would you go?

We’re saving for a good down payment, but I’m concerned with jobs. We would be raising a family where we go.

I hear Gilbert, Chandler are family friendly. Check them out on bestplaces.com

Prescott is a nice town. Az is an open-carry state. Central and northern AZ did not have rioter problems.

TX or AZ - for reinforcements.

Where in TX would you go? Jobs and security are important- we would be raising a family

Texas property taxes are atrocious. We like visiting the northern parts of Texas - Frisco, Plano, Flower Mound, McKinney, Prosper. Driving around the metroplex is not for the faint of heart. Job outlook is very good in Texas. Go to bestplaces.com and search and compare cities - it’s a great resource for anyone considering a move.

Florida and Texas have no state taxes.

Either of those are good choices and not too drastically different than other highly populated areas.

FL or TX. How about South Dakota? They have a great governor.

Edit: I love MT, what a gorgeous place. Parts of AZ are terrific.

I wish you both all the best, please keep us posted.

Florida would be easy because both us have family there. If we’re going to start over, the climate and values are very important for where we go. I will! Hopefully we’ll go soon, we want to save some more money before we go.

ND. Construction and nursing jobs abound, gun culture is strong as well as mind your own business culture.

West Coast of Florida.

Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota...jobs are plentiful and in my opinion it is in the Top 5 for most gorgeous areas of the country.

Plus you can get FL concealed carry permit as long as you aren't a felon and take 1 3 hour class. Great state for gun rights

Construction and nursing jobs around anywhere so you'll have no trouble with some planning. Good luck wherever you end up!

I have heard small cities are good because they will be in demand if large cities have instability like during the covid crisis and the riots. They are compact enough to where you don't need to drive everywhere if gas and cars become expensive, and you have enough space for a yard and garden. People know their neighbors, decent schools... Northeast has a lot of small cities that were deindustrialized but still have main streets and good job options. Mostly in blue states but they aren't like California, and the centrist areas push back, plus the DOJ will intervene if a governor overreaches.

South Dakota. I grew up in New England, spent college and post years in the Bos-Wash corridor. Most in Manhattan. Moved to CO in 2004 or so. It’s crap now.

Now SD will be a BIG change. Maybe do a Denver or a Charlotte or SLC first. But those are all leftist shitholes with ok suburbs. SD is awesome, but you’ll miss great food. And trade it for awesome outdoor activities and the ability to learn to cook for yourselves.

Best of luck!

Texas is nice but come if you are liberal minded otherwise no state taxes and really great otherwise except when the trash is blown in from the east during a hurricane

Arizona high country unless you love the desert, then Phoenix. Construction is going crazy here. Texas seems quite awesome. Spring, TX is super. Check your flood plane maps and stay North of Houston. But if I was not trapped here by fam, I would be in No. Idaho or near there in Spokane WA (fantastic place) or Montana, even EASTERN Oregon ( like Bend) Check the Citydata. sites for areas (forums) and make calls to research the construction industries. If you could go to a Southern state, you would pay 1/4 as much for a home.
