The quote you used can be read 2 ways, too. I like that Voltaire quote, though. I remember, when I was young, I wasn't sure. I had no definition of God that made sense to me, so I didn't know if he existed or not. But, I needed him at that time. So, I decided that if he didn't exist, then I was going to create him. He would now exist in my world, my perception, my existence. I figured that the real God, if he existed (again, at the time I wasn't sure) wouldn't mind and would just be there.
We need God, but I'm convinced we need him for good reasons.
I'm Ignostic, so to me - it's tremendously important to know the answer to that question before moving forward. And, being Ignostic doesn't mean I'm not, also, Christian. Or, even, gnostic, for that matter.
That God exists and, this is all part of his plan. We are still merely early Christians was, the most profound thing I read from this book. Trust me this book is worth your time and, will bring you closer to God. It is purposefully nondenominational because CS Lewis wrote this for every sect.
We have to agree on a definition of God, and it has to be falsifiable, before we can really have a meaningful discussion. Also, I'm not going through a paywall on an MSM website just so I can learn about something we don't have any idea if we agree on. The fact that you found it there makes me suspect. I do feel like you're just here to advertise, unfortunately. I don't need to be closer to God, we're already as close as we can possibly get.
