Just wait man, once enough Asians and middle easterners gain ground in america, we're going to be apologizing for everything we did in China, Japan and the middle east. If we continue this revisionist history, we're going to be ashamed of absolutely every minute of America's history up until the present moment.
I love Italians, simply the best. We have the greatest italians. No seriously, I love playing ridiculous italian music for my kids when we have spaghetti. Funiculi! Is there a slang way to refer to over the top italian stereotypes like indians have?
An over the top, stereotypical Italian, is oft referred to as a "guido," or, if even more flamboyantly Italian, a "cavone" (or "gavone" -- usually sounds more like "car-vone, or car-voni"), which is more like a kind of "white-trash," version of an Italian
Watching a (fair) Columbus documentary right now, have a nice sunday sauce (no, all italians don't call it "gravy." In fact, nobody in my [first gen] Italian family did. Truth is, the word doesn't properly translate to anything in English -- thus, some say "sauce," some say "gravy," though my hunch is that it's regional. I know very few Americans of Italian descent that call it "gravy") cooking right now with a big chunk of pork in it (gives it great flavor, and the pork, slow cooked, becomes so tender and falls right apart... delicious!) -- the smell reminding me of growing up and going to my grandparents for Sunday family gatherings. Celebrating my heritage today, the discovery of the West and the beginning of the modern age, and the amazing story of Christopher Columbus (or Cristoforo Colombo)
Typically, I would be celebrating today in the "little Italy," where I grew up; but between living a few hours away now, and corona ruining everything, this year we celebrate at home
It's sooooo good, try it out some day. Sometimes I just use the slowcooker now, throw it all together on my lunch break and it's done for dinner. The pork also makes great leftovers for sandwiches
