Calm down Trump, you're just the Commander in Chief of the United States of America.

It's not like you run the FBI or anything.

Edit: Downvotes? Did I really need a /s on this one? C'mon now. ;)

Seems like the FBI is accountable to no one except the FBI the last four years. According to the left, Trump telling the FBI what to or what not to investigate is a constitutional crisis.

A lot longer than that, I'm afraid.

The FBI was started in the 1930s to fight the mafia in Chicago. The reason they grew in power so much afterward was because J. Edgar Hoover had the FBI spy on members of congress and blackmail them.

To their credit, at least they changed focus to the mafia in congress. Unfortunately they decided to blackmail and not prosecute.

J. Edgar Hoover had the FBI spy on members of congress and blackmail them.

Not just members of Congress. JFK felt Hoover's menacing presence, too.

Know your history: The FBI was created a generation before that, it was started Officially as the Bureau of Investigation in 1908 to centralize access to this new tool called the telephone (which was used by powerful people, bankers, government, etc.)

For Law and Order & to actually clean up the Bureau:

Well, they might be accountable to Clinton Corp. They certainly seemed to do enough of her dirty work in the 2016 election.

FBI is the dam that holds in the DC swamp water.

Smash it and scatter the pieces to the wind.

Because Mitch and the Senate won't let POTUS nominate an American. And also because Mitch refuses, through dishonest parliamentary procedures, to recess the Senate making it impossible for POTUS to make a recess appointment.

The Senate, it would seem, has taken over the FBI. Thanks, Mitch.

The FBI has dirt on most of Congress.

Fire him anyways and let the agency go leaderless

Just run these agencies with temps. Keep shuffling in and out of the positions if he has to unless the Senate is willing to confirm one that meets up to POTUS's standards. Government agencies all over the country run with "interim" leaders all the time.

Excellent point

He should have fired Wray anyway and appointed someone like Giuliani as an interim director. I believe an interim director can serve up to 7 months.

Giuliani or someone else the President trusts could make a whole LOT of hay in 7 months - rooting out all the corrupt rats, promoting patriots and straight arrows, crushing antifa & other criminal militants and the networks that finance their criminal activities, releasing all the evidence on the attempted coup, etc, etc.

During that 7 months President Trump could have taken his case to the American people to get a proper non-swamp FBI director installed, and I think the Senate would eventually yield to the pressure.

Just fire Wray and replace him with Rudy Giuliani or Roger Stone.

I love Trump but I think his biggest mistake was underestimating how important it was to get full control of the FBI and DOJ from day one. Appointing flakes like Sessions and keeping Comey and then going with Wray were huge mistakes. I realize he's constrained by what the RINOs in the Senate will confirm, but still. I hope in his second term he goes all out to take control of our federal law enforcement agencies and our intelligence agencies. He needs to clean house. It's disgraceful that the Commander in Chief is reduced to tweets to ask his agencies to fulfill their basic functions.

Let's be honest. Most of us thought the FBI had several good people at the time. So, too, did President Trump. On top of that we really were not aware of how fully the corruption was just that there was a lot of it.

Now 2 or 3 months in that is a different story, but most normal people, also, did not have the full story.

hansgruber7 7 points ago +8 / -1

Yes, I agree; that's a good point. At the same time, I think it was clear enough that Comey was not reliable. He should have been fired on day one just based on what was known about him at the time. The fact that Obama trusted him and appointed him should have been reason enough. His behavior during the Hillary investigation showed that he was a snake. Once Comey was fired, I wish Trump had held out for someone legitimate. I know I'm Monday morning quarterbacking, but even at the time I did not trust Comey or Wray. I am certain in his second term Trump will make sure to put his own people in these positions and clean house.

I agree 100 percent. President Trump could disband the entire FBI, could be not? As chief law enforcement officer? I love President Trump, but I’m tired of the whining when he has complete power to fuck some of these people up in a plethora of ways, yet he doesn’t. Disband the FBI and CIA! The country survived fine before them.
