It really exposes just how systemic corruption and demoralization works to keep entire cities down. The fact it's set in perma-Democrat Baltimore, and written by a lifelong resident and ex-journalist there, is all the more illuminating.

The problem is, the first 4 or so episodes are plain bad. It really struggled to find its feet, and many gave up. After that though, it's just absolute gold until the end. No show has more heart or passion put into it.
