Only thing I'd put up next to it is The Wire. That show did an incredible job of laying out why shit never improves in cities, and how the machine works.
This is the only show that will never be topped for me. If anyone is reading this and hasn't watched it, you don't know how good a show can be until you see The Wire.
lol Steve Buscemi said the same thing about the 'how do you do fellow kids' skit, it was like a 10-second skit buried in the 30 Rock episode, he had no idea it would become this internet phenomenon.
It really exposes just how systemic corruption and demoralization works to keep entire cities down. The fact it's set in perma-Democrat Baltimore, and written by a lifelong resident and ex-journalist there, is all the more illuminating.
Spartacus is also amazing. It's the most unfairly maligned show ever.
The problem is, the first 4 or so episodes are plain bad. It really struggled to find its feet, and many gave up. After that though, it's just absolute gold until the end. No show has more heart or passion put into it.
Keep in mind the Tony Saprano is a fictional character based on a group of people these Hollywood types likely look down upon. Americans of Italian decent are just lumped into the gangster category.
It was funny. We’ve been re-watching great series, and we are on the Sopranos now, and it just happened to be the Chris Columbus one we watched Sunday night
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Columbus Portuguese or Spanish or something? Was he Italian and just hired by the monarch of one of those countries?
I can't say I've ever seen a series that's managed to top The Sopranos.
The Mrs and I just started rewatching the series a few weeks ago. This show would never get made today.
A lot of classic productions will never see daylight now.
Not even close. It’s the best of all time in my eyes.
Only thing I'd put up next to it is The Wire. That show did an incredible job of laying out why shit never improves in cities, and how the machine works.
The Wire is the best TV show ever produced.
I've watched The Wire at least 3 times all the way through and there is always new stuff I see that I missed the previous times through.
That rarely happens when watching the Sopranos all the way through.
This is the only show that will never be topped for me. If anyone is reading this and hasn't watched it, you don't know how good a show can be until you see The Wire.
The Wire truly is a masterpiece of storytelling, acting and cinematography.
I couldn’t watch The Wire. I grew up in Baltimore, and I was like, “I don’t need to watch this shit. I’ve LIVED this shit.” So yes, very true to life.
There are still some compelling story lines and characters in the series that may interest you.
My other half grew up in a similar situation and she didn't want to watch it, either.
But after a few episodes in, she was hooked. But she has zero desire to rewatch the series like I have done.
Come on. Get out of here yo! Omar's coming!
So many great characters in the series.
Those scenes make me want to watch the entire series again.
eastbound and down
My tops so far are:
The Unit
The X Files
The sopranos
Breaking Bad
The Expanse
Cobra Kai
House MD
The unit was a family favorite. Television is dead now.
I have all 3 seasons on DVD. Fucking love them still. Also love how the CIA are protrayed as the self serving power hungry swamp monster it is.
"The Americans" is definitely a series you should check out. The series finale is hands down the best of any show ever.
Mine:
Married with children
Kids in the Hall
The original MST3K
Mr. Show
Early seasons of Trailer Park Boys
The alien episodes and overall mythos were my favorite. The last season did suck though.
Burn notice is so trashy, but I have such a soft spot for Michael Westen.
I can’t think of a show that depicted such real seeming family relationships.
Check out The Leftovers.
The Wire was pretty good. I didn't see all of them tho.
And Breaking Bad.
The Sopranos jumped the shark a little bit with that dream shit and the weak final season
It's funny. I used to watch happy days religiously and I saw the shark jumping episode.
I was just a kid and I was like COOL

Buscemi is awesome. Fargo is one of my favorite movies
I liked him in Boardwalk Empire
The Wire’s 5 seasons was amazing through and through, it’s perfection, and the ending tied everything together
My iOS device told me yesterday was both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. How long until it's just IPD? A year?
I don't even care if there is an IPD, I care that the name is so stupid.
How about "natives day"
Or "tribal day"
Or "casino day"
Smallpox Awareness Day
Who comes up with these obnoxious names anyway? Why are they so bad at naming alternative holidays?
The PC do.
Back in the day we'd just pick some leader and name it after them. It would be "Crazy Horse Day" or "Chief Blackhawk Day"
But no, not inclusive enough, so we get IPD
Remember Lee Jackson King Day?
I bet the next Democrat President officially changes it. May it never happen.
Gabagool? Ovah heeeeya!
I'm fully convinced that series was a comedy, not a drama
Leif Erikson has entered the chat
Username checks out.
I see your Tony Soprano and raise you one Leif Erikson! :)
That episode where Sylvio beat up a counter protestor 😂

I discovered America 500 years after Leif Erikson. Skol! But I still honor and respect Christopher Columbus.
Columbus didn't do anything to the native inhabitants that they weren't already doing to themselves.
Christopher Columbus is the Spanish Italian Hitler from Space to leftists.

It'sh a retiahment community!
