Not only that, but I've heard this from boys raised by single moms. When you're a young man, at some point, your mom just stops being scary to you. When young men begin pushing the line, it's up to their fathers to get them back in line. To wield their wisdom and educate their son, and yes, sometimes wield their authority to put them in their place.

And at the point where a boy has grown into a 15 year old, 6' tall young man, a 40 year old woman just can't do that.

Yeah, I'm sure it's subjective. There's no such thing as a rule that suits every single family. I'm just speaking the perspective of guys I've talked to who grew up without dads.

My dad was too nice to kick our asses. But my mom did not hesitate. She is a pretty violent lady.
