Considering what we learned recently about teachers using Marxism and being racist to students, I wonder if this is what many kids "failed" or if it was objective lessons

I have two kids in remote learning right now. It's the kids not being capable of actual learning without being in a classroom setting, not 100% of teachers pushing subconscious Communism. I grew up going to school in communist southern california but I'm as red pilled as they come, because my parents are conservatives.

These people proposing that "homeschool is the only solution" are idiots. It's entirely possible to let your kids learn academic subjects from teachers while also instilling proper human and social lessons in them at home, it's called parenting.

Socialization is also extremely important to kids, both for growth and for quality of life.

Telling a 7 year old to pay attention while a teacher drones on for 5+ hours a day, while being within arms reach of all their toys, games, siblings, and other fun things... It just doesn't work. Period.

But that also very much depends on who they are "socializing" with. And "socialization" can to various degrees also be done with kids near home, clubs, sports, etc.

I can definitely imagine that. It seems like it would at least require a parent nearby to watch the child and ensure that the child is actually studying, doing their homework, possibly greatly limiting "computer/game" time, provide genuine motivation and explanation of why the specific education the child is receiving is (very much) worthwhile (and if it isn't worthwhile, change it and make it worthwhile), etc.

yeah I'll take a hard pass on socialization when it's in the dumpster fire of the public education system. This is why large families and extended families are important. Who needs to "socialize" when you have your brothers and sisters and cousins and aunts and grandmas and great grandpas. I know not everyone has that, still, what is better than that. If anything, current schooling is a modern experiment. Nothing about it is set in stone and should be changed or removed if it doesn't work. Just thinking about the amount of work to do to turn the ship around...man it's just crazy. A return to high trust productive communities would be great..
