This is gold. I stop in at r/politics every now and then to see what the other side is thinking and talking about. Today was extra special. They were all on a rant about how their parents / families have lost the plot and are all voting for Trump! They can't understand it. They're literally calling their own parents racist! Hahaha. Link to the thread and examples below....

https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/j9x2tu/cory_booker_finally_states_the_obvious_at_barrett/

"I've been telling myself "This is not normal" for four years while my older siblings, parents and some aunts and uncles have become angry and paranoid pricks. They have become satisfied with a lower quality of life and are willing to settle for a complete dictatorship based on what Trump tells them is good for them."

"My parent's basicaly admitted that they just wanted their taxes to be lower, and that's why they are voting for Trump again. I was like, "For a thousand dollars, you'd be willing to risk democracy in your country?!?!""

"There’s no talking to these people.

Had a formerly close friend say to me with 100% straight face “Donald Trump has never lied before. I trust what he says. He’s always so honest and is a straight shooter.”

Another one that compared the ANTIFA movement as the “radical left” version of the KKK and asked why Democrats don’t condemn them...so basically asking me why Dems never condemn anti-fascists"

"I was shocked. I nearly choked on my drink and responded that I would never vote for someone like Trump even if our beliefs aligned (which they don’t) and that I was disappointed she would still vote for him. Four years later she has transformed from a caring person to a racist who complains about things that don’t affect her (but are things Trump complains about, like footballers kneeling)."

"I’ve wached all my friends and most of my family.. praise trump. It’s honestly shocked me to my core.. to see what they believe."

"The same thing has been happening to my mom, and it is killing me to watch it in real time.

It’s changing her from one of the greatest, most open-minded and caring people to like standard-issue paranoid conservative “fuck y’all, got mine” attitude. It’s physically painful to watch it."

"I’ll definitely be looking into this. My mother immigrated here from Hong Kong and she and my father raised me secular, vegan, and always stressed that gay rights and female reproductive rights are important to fight for and protect.

Now, they watch Fox News constantly and are voting for Trump for a second time. Anytime I try to question their support in him, they rage about how I don’t know what I am talking about bc my liberal university brainwashed me. It’s absolutely baffling."

"Someone in my family who was Democrat for life had a major surgery 5 years ago. Spent 1 month circling through the three major news networks all night and day. Came out of it getting all their information from fox.

It was made for him. The racist stuff the oblivious/irrational fear of Mexicans and black people. It just hit all the notes.

Now there’s no going back"

LMAO I’m surprised that’s not an actual quote.

I have seen comments very similar to this. They really believe they hold the moral high ground based on what their Marxist professors say to them.

I've yet to see a leftist win an argument against someone who knows what they are talking about. It's obvious they are have no clue when they believe "facts" such as "Trump is a dictator" and "democracy is being threatened".

There's a reason why there aren't any famous leftist "intellectual" speakers--because popular leftist theories cannot be credibly defended. There are no popular leftist speakers like Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson (even if you dislike them they are very popular and have a reputation for making good points). Because you can't debate them on CRT or trans-nonsense or evil white racists and then expect people to take you seriously afterwards.

The textbook leftist debate strategy usually follows the same format. Proclaim your point targeting emotions and then use threats of bigotry when there is trouble. If the above fail, use postmodernism tactics to cloud the debate entirely, e.g. "your truth is not my truth".

It seems like a lot of the "famous" people on the left are just grifters who got famous for me-tooing dudes. Gaming in particular seems filled with them.
