My wife brought up this theory, and it made sense.
Amazon is having Prime Days this week. Usually it is in July. Wal-Mart has sent out flyers with Black Friday like deals this week. Best Buy has sales off almost everything this week. Old Navy has 50% off everything this week. I’ll bet there are more.
Are these retailers doing a Black Friday type event now, worrying about unrest or supply chain issues or shutdowns during the real Black Friday?
It is an interesting theory.
I think it's a combination of banking on most folks having disposable money now versus back in July when more people were unemployed, coupled with competition between these outlets. However, it is an interesting theory.
Another theory is that Amazon is doing Prime Day now, like the other poster said, because people might have more income now. People might be more inclined to order from Amazon now than under normal circumstances. So to help keep sales vs Amazon, they are doing sales to compete with Amazon
All very good theories in here today.
My 6 yr old walked into the room and said "Amazon knows the lockdown measures will be lifted immediately after the election, and the online retail corporations who have had all of the benefit this year are cashing in before they lose their edge."
I hugged her tightly afterwards.
Yes. Thank her for me too.
Saw a Rural King in southern IN with a Black Friday banner in the window.
