This works both ways. Some in 2016 were scared of a Trump boogeyman, and hated him. Many who did have #walkaway, but I think it'll be the closest state in the rustbelt.
We've also gained many, many new supporters. Look at the stats for his rallies. 27% are people who've never voted. 35% are Democrats. I mean it's mind blowing. And these are rallies, which are not for the faint of heart. Michigan is solid red, trust me. I was on the ground in 2016 and I'm on the ground now.
People don't show up in droves to vote based on hatred of a candidate. That hasn't ever worked. It didn't work in 2012, 2008, 2004, or 1996. Trump won because people were excited to vote for him and they are again. Nobody is excited about Biden.
Bill DeBlasio isn't mayor of NYC because he's so well liked. It's because the Republicans never bothered to run an exciting candidate since Rudy Giuliani left office. If Michigan can't run a decent candidate against Whitmer, she'll win again.
We just saw it last year in KY. We ended up with a crap Leftist governor because nobody was excited to vote for Bevin's re-election. Even Trump couldn't get Conservatives excited when they had his rally on election eve. On the other hand, in 2023 if Daniel Cameron runs against Andy Beshear, who's been Whitmer-lite in KY, Beshear will be trounced because people will be excited to vote for Cameron.
It's funny because RCP is the poll I keep hearing the Left swear by as being the most accurate in 2016. Chrissy Wallace himself won't shut up about it as he makes the rounds trying to salvage his career.
Michigan loves President Trump!
I've got some more rustbelt posted plus N.Carolina
Keep 'em coming, thanks!
That whole tweet chain was fantastic
The only downside to this comparison is that a lot of people really hated Hillary. Like a ton.
People don't hate biden. They feel he's a useful idiot.
Michigan will be close.
They hate Whitmer. They know Biden won't finish his term and they can't stand Kamala. Michigan will be less close than last time.

Yeah good point.
At this moment, I feel good about Michigan. In addition to presidential delegates, I think we may pick up a senate seat there.
