You're making the mistake everyone makes when comparing polls. He explained it in his last live stream yesterday.
You have to compare this week's polls to the same poll conducted by the same people, in the same way, on the same week of October in 2016.
Comparing this week's polls to election results is ill advised.
So, when comparing to his same polls from 4 years ago, Biden's lead is smaller than Hillary's at this same point before Election Day.
