Thus Shia islam developed quite differently because since then, they do not believe any authority on Earth can speak for all Muslims or completely authorized by Allah. Unfortunately, Shia Islam went off the rails in 1979 when the Iranian Revolution happened and suddenly, Shia Muslims became even more unhinged than the Sunni for the most part. Right now, both types of Islam broadly speaking, are fundamentalist, harsh and frankly, stupid and unenlightened.
