Anatomically modern humans have been around for ~200,000 years. If you took a man from 200,000 years ago and put him in a suit, he wouldn’t stand out at all physically.

~7,000 generations of humans just like us, basically. What did they invent? Where did they live? We’ll never know for sure. Multiple ice ages and cataclysms wiped the slate clean.

That’s my rant for the night lol.

I read an article a few years ago based on a study where they concluded that the average American believes that the country is 25% gay and up to 5% trans. This is so far from the actual figure, it's scary. Most people do not pay any attention to the news and literally "learn" through scripted television shows.

Wearyman 13 points ago +16 / -3

Not even close. Sorry. 1% until recent years when it grew to 2%. The 10% figure is from a really, really bad study that has been shown to be tremendously inaccurate several times.

1
JeffT4116 1 point ago +1 / -0

1% until recent years when it grew to 2%.

The number of gay people hasn't doubled in recent years; it just seems that way because more are living openly and are thus more visible in society.

In males, the gene that causes homosexuality is passed on to him by the maternal parent. About 4% of men are homosexual; this rate remains steady, trends and culture notwithstanding.

It is not known what causes homosexuality in females, but it is largely assumed to be genetic.

1
Wearyman 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree that the number hasn't doubled, the count has just become more accurate. It could be as high as 4%, but I haven't personally seen any studies to that effect. Either way, it's fair to say that 10% is a gross over-count and intentional manipulation for political reasons.

Edit: I should also note that there is very little evidence for it being entirely genetic as well. Truth be told, the evidence for "genetic homosexuality" is far weaker than that for "Social homosexuality". Social and Developmental pressures account for a very large, if not overwhelming portion of the total homosexual population. It is important that we don't deny this portion of it.

1
MSG1000 1 point ago +1 / -0

I read 2-4% in a 1950’s study. Then the numbers ballooned hard when people admitted to having gay encounters or being aroused by the same sex, basically indicating they had at least some degree of bisexuality but not enough to where bisexual made sense for them. But then I found a different study with different numbers but the same pattern. The numbers are like polling conservatives, you’ll never get a great answer. I’m only certain at this point that it’s significantly less than 10%.

-31
Arriveria -31 points ago +6 / -37

Nope its 10% in Western world, of course in countries where being gay is death sentence like Saudi Arabia people wont go an identity as gay in a poll, but where it’s not discriminatory the polls are all at 10%. And its not a flawed study, 1% study simply doesnt even exist.

...which may also explain the stratospheric per capita rates of borderline-to-outright pedophilia in that particular demographic. See also the drag queen kid in NYC, where even the fucking parents are cool with the grooming process.

Whatever two (or more, DGAF) consenting adults do naked with each other in the privacy of their own home or hotel room is none of my damned business. However, when kids and teens get dragged into it, it does (and should) become everyone's business.

Gay men aren't born. They're made.

0
ShadowInv 0 points ago +2 / -2

Nope. Born. It's a birth defect or something. Chances are it would work itself out over a number of years, get bred out? Unless it's a chemical imbalance or something.

1
Wearyman 1 point ago +1 / -0

In fairness, it seems to be a mixture of both.

For a smaller percentage of the gay population, they have a (with apologies, no insult intended here) genetic mutation or in-vitro developmental defect that causes their homosexuality. This, according to your testimony, would seem to be the case with you.

However, for a very large portion of the homosexual population, social and post-birth mental developmental issues are the cause of homosexuality.

The issue arises though, that getting a solid study of these effects is incredibly difficult generally, due to the stigma associated with childhood sexual abuse and it is made even worse due to the current political climate and the extreme politicization of human sexuality by the left.

However, just because it is difficult to study does not mean it is impossible, and several very good studies have been done to this effect in the recent past, confirming that much of homosexuality is due to negative social and developmental pressure (extreme peer pressure and childhood sexual abuse). Of course, these were roundly panned by the left and in the media, and in some cases the researchers have been deplatformed or "unpersoned" due to political pressure. So getting fresh studies untainted by far left influences is next to impossible in today's climate.

0
trollkin0331 0 points ago +2 / -2

Nope. Made. I dare you to ask any gay male you know, and if they trust you, they will admit to being raped by an older man.

Thrasymachus 7 points ago +7 / -0

It is a complete fucking impossibility to acquire good data on child abuse correlation to homosexuality. So every study that "debunks" this is literally worth less than the otherwise-valuable-blank paper it was printed on. Saying that something that cannot be studied with contemporary sociological observation tools is a "myth" by virtue of being impossible to study is disingenuous. Either you don't realize this, or you do and are speaking in bad faith (I've seen both on this very board).

Memory trauma, massive social stigmas, denial, the list goes on and on why this phenomenon simply cannot be studied without unethical methods or some manner of mind-reading. Yet the inability to accurately observe doesn't change the fact that the effects are extremely real, and in fact lurking right beneath the surface of a huge swath of psychological traumas and problems--not just sexuality--that we don't currently have the ability to treat or help.

That is the transgender agenda, which is not the same thing as the gay agenda. Blind people aren't the same as deaf people. Until the T is broken off from the LGBT movement, then it is a single agenda. All of the gay lobby groups support the transgender agenda and they all support "gender theory". I've talked to a lot of other gay people that share that they think transexuals need to be their own group, but it's just talk.

4
Picador_20 4 points ago +5 / -1

You telling me that as a gay man I belong to a larger agenda is just talk. I am an individual and I am accountable for no one's actions but my own.

7
redgreenyellowblu 7 points ago +8 / -1

Yeah, that's not what I told you, is it? I agree with your second statement, but you seem to be trying to downplay that there is an LGBT lobby with a very unified and well described agenda. This agenda has been taken up by broader organizations from the ACLU all the way up to the United Nations.

All cross dressing men are gay

Cross-dressing used to be a harmless source of asexual comedy and a commentary on gender. Now that gender is both real, fake, a construct, and comes in 56 flavors, plus the whole exercise is draped in Marxist overtones, I think it's safe to say that that era is over and you're closer to true than false.

Not all gay men are trannies.

Not sure anyone claims this

All trannies are gay

I'm not sure this is correct. A man, pretending to be a woman, who is "gay" in the sense that they are (still) attracted to women, is not gay. They're just mentally ill. A man, pretending to be a woman, who is attracted to men, is closer to traditional homosexuality but the extra steps still smack of mental illness. The reverses apply to women, as well.

It's ok to be gay

Sure, although anyone interested in general social well-being reserves the right to note the difficult-to-study-but-extant relationship between childhood trauma (especially sexual trauma) and homosexuality, among other sexually "deviant" behaviors, and accordingly want such trauma against children to be stopped--even knowing that doing so would reduce the number of gay-identifying adults.

They are some of the few who acknowledge they're a defect and celebrate being different without trying to convert anyone. Those kind I'm totally chill with.

My brother and his husband you wouldn't really think of as gay if you saw them. Now listening to my BIL at times, you can tell, but just looking at them you cannot.

BIL said that gays who make everything in their life revolve around them being gay, are attention whores we need not pay attention to.

It's also odd how in one sentence gays will say "We are so oppressed and so in fear for our lives as gays we can't go out of the house!" While at the same time advertising their gayness in public. As you said, most gays, you'd never know they were gay if they didn't advertise it. If they're so oppressed and so fearful for their lives in public, why advertise that they're gay in public?

Gay "culture" where they talk as gay as possible, harass straight dudes, and wear Borat-style bathing suits is fucking degenerate though.

28
Furaffinitydotnet 28 points ago +30 / -2

The "T" being added to the LGB group makes no sense. The media and dems does to the gay community what they do to the black community.

They force figures like Al Sharpton to the front to make the group look bad. They simultaneously weaponize the "useful idiots" of both groups against any reasonable leader to force them out as an "uncle tom."

That's a large reason why the LGB and black community look like a complete joke. You'd be surprised just how many gay people and black people are voting conservative this election.

17
ClownTamer 17 points ago +17 / -0

Agreed. They’ve all been lumped in together because for the media and DNC, it makes it easier to target them as a demographic. If I was gay I would not want to be associated with the entire alphabet. As if trans has anything to do with being gay. It isn’t even a sexual orientation.

It’s also made ‘gay pride’ events a complete joke. Here in the Bay they’re usually covered with furries and grown men wearing diapers and people with horns installed and rainbow BDSM gear made of yarn and homeless looking people peeing in the street. None of that has anything to do with being gay. It’s turned the whole thing into a farce.

5
WhoMurderedSethRich 5 points ago +5 / -0

But they're SO oppressed! 🙄

6
KuhlooKuhlay 6 points ago +7 / -1

the "B" doesn't really make sense either if we're talking about rights in society.

how could homosexuals (L's and G's) have rights but then B's be discriminated against? makes no sense. B's are just heterosexuals who engage in homosexual behavior as well (or vice versa if you prefer). also, lots and lots of people who identify as L's and G's are or were B's at some point in their life. it's really just a front and recruitment tool for identity politics.

adding all the extra letters is just like people saying "black and brown" or "people of color".... it's not really a thing in reality. they're just trying to widen the pretend demographic so more people buy into it.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0

MSG1000 1 point ago +1 / -0

From what I understand, B’s have often gotten shat on by straights and gays because they wouldn’t pick a side or something. Either way, having any homo inclinations at various points in history was good enough for stoning. That’s the reason they got included from what I understand.

1
KuhlooKuhlay 1 point ago +1 / -0

fair enough, but that doesn't have anything to do with rights or legislation, etc. not to mention gays talk shit about straights all the time. so probably just an offshoot of that kind of peer pressure.

There's already a lot of heat and anger between lesbians and trannies, and it's often violent.

The TL;DR is that most lesbians want an actual woman to be intimate with, not some dude pretending to be one (by behavior or by surgery). This gets them called a "TERF", and bad things usually ensue from there.

That said, I can't watch it. If two dudes kiss in a movie or if I see it in person I have to look away cause it makes me queasy. In practice, nobody cares at all what consenting adults want to do with other consenting adults.

The battleground is really over the sexualization and indoctrination of children. Something they always said was a patently absurd "slippery slope" fallacy while they were petitioning for marriage rights.

Now here we are in 2020 with drag queen story hour, LGBTQ Cartoons and child hormone blockers.

In practice, nobody cares at all what consenting adults want to do with other consenting adults.

I do. What the hell. Even if they stay away from children, they still normalize a lifestyle which is against nature and very damaging to society.

Not to mention their intolerance and viciousness towards those who believe in the family.

Islam is right about homos.

1
orange_dit 1 point ago +3 / -2

They don't normalize it when they keep it in the bedroom. When they shout it out to the world or put it in schoolbooks that's different.

-1
Italians_Invented_2A -1 points ago +1 / -2

But homo marriage is normalizing it too, and I would assume the 99% of homos want it.

Thus, the vast majority of homos to want to normalize it.

1
orange_dit 1 point ago +1 / -0

Actually that's a common misunderstanding. The Netherlands was the first country to have ss-'marriage'. Before the law change they asked gays. The vast majority was against the redefinition.

-1
Italians_Invented_2A -1 points ago +1 / -2

I'm afraid I'll have to ask for a source for that.

Majority of homos against homo marriage?

1
orange_dit 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most gay people still don't get married. And most of those who do are not monogamous. And when they changed the law they already had civil unions, so they had no incentive to change it. In fact they reason they got civil unions in the first place is because that was a compromise. They promised conservatives they only wanted a civil union, no marriage. But activists took it further and rammed it through nonetheless. This was in 2001. So I'm talking about polls taken before 2001. I couldn't find it. It is hard to find as it is buried deep in search results of the last two decades. But this was a well known fact.

If you say it was 2001 I believe you.

But things are very different now.

Perhaps "nobody cares" was a poor choice of words.

As a Christian it is not my place to condemn the sins of others, for I too have sinned in the eyes of the almighty Father.

I do however have an obligation to protect children and inform them of the gospel.

3
Shezestriakis 3 points ago +6 / -3

As a Christian it is not my place to condemn the sins of others

Absolutely false.

3
America1stAndOnly 3 points ago +4 / -1

Very much this. I've noticed that most Christians are more concerned with being nice than following the teachings of Christ and this needs to change. For one thing, being nice usually means allowing others to participate in degenerate activities that bring down both the individual and society. Christ said that we should not suffer evil. Playing nice is often not an actual nice action.

-1
Shillyourself -1 points ago +2 / -3

Really? I think you should check your scripture.

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? - Matthew 7:1-3

6
Shezestriakis 6 points ago +6 / -0

Don't cherry-pick verses. If you read the rest of the passage (Verses 4-5), Christ isn't saying not to judge, He's saying you will be held to the same standard and you better look over yourself first. He only condemns hypocritical judging.

Christ himself judges people in Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

1 Corinthians 5:11 "But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."

Judgement is all through the Bible. Only liars say they don't judge. Judgement is one of the attributes of God that man shares, without it we'd be worse than animals.

A couple of useful links: https://completechristianity.blog/2018/08/02/the-heresy-of-dont-judge/ https://www.wayoflife.org/free_ebooks/judge_not_heresy.php

-1
Shillyourself -1 points ago +1 / -2

I am not saying I don't personally judge people's attitudes and behaviors and rebuke them in my best judgment with respect to Christ's 2nd commandment.

37Jesus declared, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’… - Matthew 28:37-39

But it's important to remember this verse in the context of your "fitness" to judge others.

23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.… - Romans 3:23-24

Unfortunately all of this must come to pass. In a sense, the increase in sexual sin, though condemnable, is evidence of the truth of the end times gospel.

3
Shezestriakis 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgement. — John 7:24

You shall do no injustice in judgement; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor. — Leviticus 19:15

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. — Ephesians 5:11

I can do this all day.

But I don't understand what you're trying to say. On the one hand, it sounds like you're saying you do judge people, but that I shouldn't because I am "unfit"? Or are you only judging them on one part of scripture and nothing else? Both are contrary to scripture.

And yes, the end times do speak of these things, but nowhere does it say to "let it spread without rebuke because it's inevitable anyway."

Let me break it down:

LGBTQ

L lesbians are gay women, so we can drop the first letter, there already is a G. GBTQ

G Gay, same-sex attracted individuals who celebrate their disorder. GBTQ

B Bisexual. Gay and also straight. Since straight doesn't count as diverse enough we can drop this letter too. GTQ

T mental disorder where someone thinks he or she is the other sex. Sometimes cross dresses or had surgeries and hormones to mimic appearance of other sex. Not a sexual 'orientation', so this does not belong in the same list. So we can drop this letter too. GQ

Q queer or questioning. Queer is gay and questioning is not an orientation. G

So I'll just call them gays.

Let's not forget President Trump is polling well (heh) with gays right now. Are we chasing away votes now?

I'm a homo and a HUGE Trump fan. I abandoned the "community" fully in 2016 when I voted Trump the first time. I'm not on board with the tranny stuff. When I put the flags on the Jeep to rally for the prez I have a Trump pride flag on there simply to let people know the left does not own every gay vote. I felt it was something I needed to do, even though I hate the pride flag. I figured coming on this site, there'd be folks who didn't like me, and that is their right as Americans not to. Unlike leftists, I don't require people accept me, I'm old enough to not give a fuck what people think for the most part. I promote nothing. What I do in my private life is my business. But, the hate seems to have just swelled as of late. Someone out here was inferring I was a pedo the other day after I posted a pic of my ride with said flag on it. It's just shitty and disrespectful. And annoying that leftists screech at me constantly that this is what the right "is really like" and now assholes out here are proving them correct. I'll still vote Trump/red in November because I believe in this country. But really, fuck everybody on both sides. As utterly destroyed as I'd be if Trump lost, at this point I'd at least find solace that every POS bigot on this site is miserable about it. (Sorry to unload but yours seemed like the sanest comment on this post haha)

3

Yeah man, I noticed really ugly anti gay posts pop up shortly after polls started to show gay support for Trump going up. Just like I started seeing more anti black stuff just after black support for President Trump shot up....same with jewish support.

For the most part I think this site is a big tent and most of us just want to MAGA

Dont skip that vote for President Trump because of a few rotten apples. President Trump doesn't discriminate. If you're a proud American who doesn't like where the Democrats are headed you're one of us.

5
cccpneveragain 5 points ago +5 / -0

I look back and while I'd never say I supported gay marriage it was a non-issue for me. I just didn't care to fight it. Why does it matter if the government acknowledges a different marriage?

What I didn't realize is what a slippery slope that was and in just a few years it's turned from "we want to get married and be normal" to drag queen story hour and cutting off little boys dicks. I think they've even pissed off a lot of gay people with their BS. You know, the ones that really did just want to get married and keep to themselves.

5
Shalomtoyou 5 points ago +5 / -0

I met gay men ten years before the gay marriage craze, back when the idea of expanding the legal definition of marriage would get you laughed our of the room, who would introduce their partner as their husband.

No one cared. If he found a pastor or whatever to do a ceremony and wrote a written trust and contract between him and his partner, it was all fine.

The people who went crazy to push gay marriage down our throats were the ones who WANTED the drag queen story hours, the transgendering of a four year old boy who asked for an Elsa toy at McDonalds, who slobber over indoctrinating children into LGBT ideology.

The regular gay couple were calling each other husband 20 years before all this crap happened, and no one cared.

1
ShadowInv 1 point ago +3 / -2

The government should acknowledge no marriage. It shouldn't be a government issue.

Separate the man made religion from the man made state.

1

I actually made that argument with someone a few years ago. I don't really get why the government needs to acknowledge marriage at all. It didn't come off as a popular argument that's for sure.

I think it's important to note the difference between the LGBTQ community and the LGB individuals. The community says they want to "normalize" a certain lifestyle, but always keeps pushing the envelope further to remain on the fringes of society. If they didn't, they'd be out of a job. LGB individuals, for the most part, just want to live relatively normal, happy lives. Like most things, the silent majority really just want to be left alone, while the radical minority get all the attention and make everyone else look bad.

4
NeverBeFat 4 points ago +4 / -0

If homosexuality is genetic, it is continually being edited out of the gene pool, as gays (generally) don't have children.

I got into a long and pointless argument with some libtard on reddit a few years back, he/she/it would not acknowledge that one woman could not get another woman pregnant.

M+F= babies
M+M = no babies
F+F = no babies

It's so simple, only a liberal can't get it.

I disagree. Buffalo Bill is a dude who wants to be a woman. That's literally what a trans is.

He's creepy crazy because, well, wanting to modify your body to become of the opposite sex is creepy crazy.

If you exclude the morality of Buffalo taking his "material" from unwilling victims, what he did is just as creepy and fucked up than transgender surgery. Actually no, transgender surgery is even more fucked up.

1
Shalomtoyou 1 point ago +1 / -0

Even in the movie the girl mentions how most trannies were not psychos like Buffalo Bill.

But what we found out with the rise of those lunatics who use terms like terf.... some are.

0
Italians_Invented_2A 0 points ago +2 / -2

Silence of the Lamb has some SJW bullshit thrown in for sure.

They introduce the very odd concept that one might believe to be a trans, but isn't.

That made me laugh out loud. How the fuck does that work? Being a trans is 100% in your head, so if you think you're a trans then you're a trans.

3
Shalomtoyou 3 points ago +3 / -0

I struggled with some trans issues when I was younger. (Not anymore... left that part of my life behind)

I met enough crossdressers and transsexuals and I can tell you many are very, very confused. And they have a weird kind or pressure, too.

The crossdressers were the best adjusted for the most part. Their mentality is: "Yeah, I get off on dressing as a woman for a while, then I change back and go home."

The transsexuals had a lot more problems. "Am I really transsexual? Am I really a woman? Half a woman? Should I make the change?"

Then the fun part is when they turn on each other: "You're not real! You're just a crossdresser getting your rocks off! I'm the real deal! I'm the real woman, you're not!"

Then you're going down the hill in your Go Kart without any brakes.

-2
Italians_Invented_2A -2 points ago +1 / -3

Most people have little understanding of the human sexuality. It's normal to be turned on by things that are tabu, dirty, controversial, or disgusting. That's how our brain works.

But between masturbating to gay porn or shemales, and actually wanting to live your life around it, there's an abyss.

This is why I ferociously hate the LGBT "community". Because they don't let people just experiment with porn and sexual fetishes. They are desperately trying to recruit new members to their ideology, which incidentally involves even communism and not just the sexual aspects. They insist in building a life identity, and a political identity, around some fucking sexual fetishes!

Jerk off to gay porn if that's what gets you off. But the moment you say that two dudes sodomizing each other and trying to create a butt baby are a real family, then we have a problem.

2
Shalomtoyou 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, and the thing is, everything is a step to doing it.

Watching the gay porn breaks down the barriers to try it in real life.

Then you try it in real life, you like it... maybe you say something like: "Eh, I'd like to do it with a girl, but wow, guys are way more accessible..."

Then you do it enough that even if you wanted to be with a girl you're scared or unable too because you haven't been giving them any intimate time since you spent it with the more accessible gay men....

...and then you're in a relationship with a guy, and blocked off from the maturing effect of being a father with a woman who's the mother of your kid...

And you might not have watched gay porn in the first place if it wasn't for your teacher in school telling you to open your mind to other sexualities do to the LGBT outreach unit, and how easy it was to get it on the internet...

One foot after the other.

-1
Italians_Invented_2A -1 points ago +1 / -2

I agree, except that watching porno is something I consider innocuous. Humans get sexually aroused with tabu or disgusting things, but that does not mean they'd do it for real. The step is fucking huge.

For example I'll watch a porno of a guy fucking a random slut without a condom, but in real life I would never fuck a stranger without a condom.

The danger is that a kid watches gay porno out of curiosity or just to masturbate to something disgusting, and then the homo gang / the teacher tries to tell him that it's normal.

There a big difference between watching porno and doing it for real.

I totally agree with you on "guys are more accessible". Homos are losers who can't get laid and they have to resort to dudes.

I like Dave Chappelle's skit about the LGBTQ alphabet soup car. The gay men are driving to a destination, the lesbians are in the passenger seat, the bisexuals are behind them & everyone else is trying to destroy the car because they can't fit in.

I personally don't care if some 34 year old dude likes dudes. It's not my life to live. I just don't want every aspect of our society grinding to a halt because the activists want to talk about sex. There shouldn't be elementary programs teaching kids about nonsense like gender spectrums

Because homosexuality cannot be passed on to offspring (because there are no offspring) how did it evolve independently millions of times?

-1
Wearyman -1 points ago +1 / -2

For the same reason that other unwanted mutations exist and recur millions of times. Evolution is ongoing and has far more dead ends than valid paths forward.

1
4022a 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ok. What's another similar complex behavior that occurs with equal regularity?

1
MSG1000 1 point ago +1 / -0

That begets two questions. Why does the same mutation keep occurring in so many species? And why has it not disappeared after millions of millions years?

1
Wearyman 1 point ago +1 / -0

You could ask the same question about many mutations. Why is cancer prevalent across almost every species and hasn't died out? The questions are, in fact, irrelevant when one understands how evolution and mutation function. One would, mathematically, expect very high numbers of "dead ends" among mutations, and quite a bit of mutational similarity across similar species.

Of course, there is also the social and developmental aspects to consider as well. Many homosexuals become so due to negative developmental experience (abuse) and negative social pressure (peer pressure among their primary social group) In many cases it IS a lifestyle choice they have made, just not a conscious one, and often due to pressures and forces they don't really understand until later in life, assuming they bother to learn or have the fortitude to face it.

Ultimately, all homosexuality in humans is either due to undesirable genetic mutation, undesirable social pressure or undesirable developmental experience. In no case should it ever be considered "normal" or "healthy".

That said, we should still care for and love our gay Pedes. Perhaps a little extra as they need it more than many. Recognizing their issues is the first step to understanding them, and understanding them is the first step to caring more.

1
MSG1000 1 point ago +1 / -0

Cancer is a random(ish) mutation that fails to self-destruct despite lacking many of the normal gene safeguards because it has the “add telomere sequence” gene reactivated, preventing it from chopping important bits during its rapid cellular division.

So long as an organism can survive long enough to reproduce evolutionary pressures won’t necessarily do much, or at least directly, to overcome an issue like cancer. In fact, the fact that cells terminate the telomere extension means to me that evolution did try and tackle it.

However, homosexuality is a direct threat to reproduction yet, whatever the real percentage number is, it remains fairly constant. It’s also observed to occur in many animal species and not just mammals. That implies that homosexuality serves some role we haven’t figured out yet. But I don’t see us being able to find that reason or disprove that idea anytime soon. Even if we have the tech or body of evidence to study it anyone trying to tackle this is more than likely going to, consciously or not, going to try and confirm what they already think because of how politically and socially charged it is.

1
Wearyman 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well said.

However, I would hasten to note that one could also consider homosexuality to be foreshortened and limited by similar evolutionary pressures.

IE: Any group where homosexuality was a greater percentage of the population would have seen a precipitous decline in births and a population collapse. So simple evolutionary pressure has served to prevent the passing on of any genes that would increase the percentage of homosexual population members beyond the low single digits.

I absolutely agree with you that it is a VERY under studied field, precisely for the reasons you mentioned. As long as human sexuality is politicized by the left, we will not have good science being done in that area.

1
MSG1000 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes, and politicization means anyone else will have a bias as a natural reaction to push back. Until this comes down most studies aren’t going to be worth much in my opinion.

1

Good point. But I think the 2-5% is inflated. It is less than that. And with women it is more fluid, so I would say 1% male 0% women are gay.

While criticism plagued Governor Mecham for most of his time in office, it was not until he had been in office for six months that his nominal allies began to break ranks with him. In July 1987, the same month the recall effort officially began, a group of thirteen rank-and-file Republican members of the state legislature met to discuss the governor's image problems. Eleven members of the group, dubbed the Dirty Dozen by the local press, issued a joint statement critical of many of the governor's efforts.[43] Calls for the governor's resignation followed several months afterwards, with former U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater leading the way on October 9, 1987.[19] As Mecham's problems continued to build, other Arizona political leaders, including Congressman Jon Kyl and Senator John McCain, made appeals for Mecham to step down, but the governor steadfastly refused to leave office.[44]

Recall drive Edit The Mecham Watchdog Committee was organized in January 1987 and changed its name to the Mecham Recall Committee in May 1987. Pursuant to the Arizona Constitution, a recall petition may not be circulated against an official unless he has been in office for at least six months, except that a legislator may be recalled after he has been in office for five days.[45] These petitions needed a number of signatures equal to 25% of votes cast during the official's last election to cause a recall election. On July 6, 1987, the first day that petitions could be circulated, the recall committee began an effort to collect 350,000 signatures, significantly more than the 216,746 signatures required. The recall committee was led by Ed Buck, a registered Republican and gay businessman living in the Phoenix area. In response, Mecham claimed the recall supporters were "a band of homosexuals and dissident Democrats." Mecham supporters printed bumper stickers reading "Queer Ed Buck's Recall" after learning of the recall leader's sexual orientation. Mecham also mailed 25,000 letters during September to conservatives nationwide requesting that they move to Arizona and support him in case a recall election were held.[19][46]

Yep, good ol’ republican stalwarts like no-name and Ed ‘stick em with the needle before you stick em with your other needle’ Buck
