Questions for you, and some background. I grew up in Hawaii, but what I know of election season there is definitely dated (70s and 80s). Back then, sign waving was a common thing, but usually one or two people at a street corner or on an entry ramp to the H-1, etc. Or that one perennial candidate sitting on his chair in Aiea every weekday morning. Sometimes you'd see 6-12 people doing sign waving outside of a campaign office, too, but for short periods of time. Candidate t-shirts were not all that uncommon to see on people at the mall or beach. In my time there, I never saw anything even remotely approaching these Trump rallies. Large gatherings for caucuses, yes, but nothing organic and citizen-based like this. Is this a new phenomenon? Was there any energy like this during Barry's campaigns?
Also, I saw a few videos of the rally ~ 3 weekends ago - included large streetside rallies in Mililani and Hawaii Kai (not too surprising, I guess). A large sign waving in Nuuanu (pretty surprising to me though I know the Nuuanu that I knew has gentrified a lot). Saw a small anti-Trump / BLM counterprotest in Waimanalo (not surprising). But what floored me was footage of large streetside rallies in Waianae and Nanakuli. Am I reading too much into this, but is there significant support in those towns? Those rallies, in my opinion, were earth-shattering in their possible implications.

I can say that these events are being held several times a week across the island.
Some larger than others. It's very grassroots and many people are tired of being silent and know everyone needs to come out showing support to let others know they are not alone.
There is significant support in most area's. A lot of people are also tired of the lockdown restrictions. Here is an example of why even normies are pissed. So Hawaii locked down, opened, then locked down again and is opening with restrictions. At one point after soft opening you could only go outside or somewhere alone. You could not go outside with another member of your own household. That's right. There were married couples working out at the parks even social distancing and they were given tickets. There was a woman with her baby that got a ticket because they were the same household. Even many lefties got enraged by that restriction. Also millions in CARE funding is unaccounted for.
It's been very satisfying and encouraging watching the footage just keep coming out of Hawaii. Every weekend, there's something new and the rallies are big.
Sadly my Hawaii for Trump flag won't arrive in time for our Trump Train in VA tomorrow. Maybe in time for the DC Beltway Trump Train next weekend!

Ok, I get what you're saying . I agree with the sentiment but I do think a different approach is needed for the people of Hawaii. My reasoning being that if you live in a place that eventually costs too much or is no longer financially possible for you to continue to live there (whether its a job loss or a death in the family), my advice would be move 30 mins away or look to pack up and drive or rent a uhael to a cheaper cost of living.
In Hawaii, that physically is not possible. I am not stating places like NYC, hawaii, LA or Dallas are bad places because of the cost. Demand creates hgiher prices. Deal with it. In hawaii, that literally puts families in the whole in a matter of years and they have no place to go.

Man, I went to Highschool on Maui and I can remember at least 50 instances where I was randomly assaulted and forced to defend myself just because I was a 'fuckin haole' with a southern accent who didn't speak pidgin. I'm just speaking from my own experience here but I rarely came across someone of full native Hawaiian descent. I knew people with Hawaiian in their bloodlines (I even had a girlfriend who was part Hawaiian) but this was usually mixed with Polynesian, most commonly Tongan or Samoan. Occasionally there would be some Filipino or Japanese or even Portuguese in the mix somewhere.
