Basically all of the increase in college tuition costs over the last 20 years has been due to the hiring of administrators rather than professors. Diversity coordinators, speech code enforcers and all the rest.
Trump should issue an executive order stating that any college that spends a greater percentage of funds on administration than they did in say 1990 won’t receive any federal funding. Voila, the enforcers of the woke mob get canned and tuitions drop back to what they were in the ‘90s.
Easy: Eliminate student loans and they will have to make the price affordable.
Or alternatively make them dischargeable in bankruptcy so that lenders actually have some risk.
No that does not address the cause of the problem which is the cost. If the average family can only afford 9000/yr for school then it needs to be brought down to that.
The effects would be very similar — if lenders have to evaluate student loans on the same criteria as they do loans that are dischargeable in bankruptcy, they will make far fewer loans, driving the price of tuition down, and will also result in fewer critical studies majors and more STEM majors as no lender is going to lend to someone pursuing a useless unmarketable degree as they won’t pay back their loans. Right now, lenders have an incentive to cram as much debt on students as they can knowing they have no way to get out from under it.
Except as loans are available school will still charge 1000's for text books instead of delivering them all electronically for less than $100. Because there would be no downward price pressure as long as borrowed money is available.
I like that. Same for government, though. He did eliminate those diversity training degrees
Professors get opposite six figures... Admin and pointless positions get paid 30-40k.
University costs have skyrocketed due to student loans and excessive professor pay... Not to mention professor bloat and students being paid to go to school. Students are paying for illegal aliens and others to go to go to school. They are also covering health insurance for every student and that is massive expenditure. That health insurance is better than any insurance I have ever seen.
