I think there needs to be a new type of lawsuit that is recurring, that is basically like 'you sue someone for defamation and you win, you win against any future accusations that are the very same thing from other people' and whatever you won in the lawsuit, it establishes a precedent for receivership of the same court finding for any / all future cases
So this would mean that if Nick Sandmann went to court and got 20M from CNN, or even settled out of court, then Sandmann can sue NBC, then CBS, then MSNBC, then FOX, and go all down the line UNTIL THE SHIT STOPS
I think POTUS should do the same
"When are you going to condemn the KKK, Mr. Trump"
"Already did. Thanks for my free 1M dollars, Rachel"
Speech is still free
You're free to talk shit publicly, but if you do it's 1M fine
I think it shouldn't apply to social media or pseudoanonymous or anonymous accounts because that's not "targetted"
and I think if your'e a public person (as in your real name) you should be able to 100% block anonymous accounts
But if you are a public person and another public person says shit about you on social, then it's treated as a broadcast and you should be alble to sue them
So if James Woods said shit about say Madonna that wasn't true, she could sue him. Likewise if Madonna said shit about James woods he could sue her
But if rache maddow continued to talk shit, then joy behar jumped in, Woods would say, retract it immediately, because if you don't then you owe me 1M that madonna gave me in court
Then they would retract
Or they'd keep it up and fork over 1M dollars and also I think twitter should have to report that with a little label underneath the tweet saying, this tweet was defamatory and cost madonna 1M dollars
If our reps did their jobs, he would be rebuked!! But, they sit on their hands and wag their fingers and the crap just gets worse...we have rules of decorum & laws, but, but, but....oh well....
Remember the movie Clockwork Orange?
Wish he could be made to listen for 10 days straight to the half hour of clips where Trump is doing that. And THEN be sued for slander.

This freedom of speech thing doesn't work

Members of congress are generally protected by the Constitution
A regrettable shame.
The voters should pick (or write in) with greater care.
Sheesh, even if it was like a 25¢ fib jar, imagine how much there'd be from muh Russia alone.
