I think he's just a sacrifice, IMO. A gambit to install a democrat through election fraud, with the understanding that if things fall apart, and Trump gets re-elected even with the fraud, that it will effectively end Joe Biden's career. In other words, nothing of value is being risked, and if he wins they 25th him and install Kamala and they can even insert a VP of their choice. Effectively bypassing the desires of democrat voters and putting anybody they want into power, without them being subjected to any rigors of campaigning or scrutiny.
These aren't just democrats, they are the establishment democrats. There are different factions within the democrats, and there has been massive resentment for at least a couple of decades because the establishment (deep state) democrats don't represent the democratic voters, but they still win because the alternative is an establishment republican instead, which is even worse.
They don't really have any good people that are establishment democrats to really throw up there. Most of them are just fucking terrible and are really disliked by the democrat base. Kamala is just an example. A lot of democrats didn't like Hillary either.
