Hawaiian peded here (though im not from here, I will be residing for the next few years). General sentiment from what i've seen is that people are tired of the lockdowns and travel restrictions (hawaii has been suffocating because of no tourists for months now, they have basically no choice but to open back up). I've been going to the beach etc a lot lately, lots of hawaii locals hanging out in large groups, not a mask in sight. The people here by-and-large are sick of it all
There will still be enough to make it an uphill battle for Trump, although him even turning the state purple would be major news in itself.
If its any indicator, whenever there are articles posted by local news outlets on facebook about any restrictions or business closings, most comments tend to be about from people who want to just open up with restrictions
well I think it's better than nothing, but like you said it's still a battle. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but even a solid R mayor would be great for them.
