Media has played a part in controlling the masses since the invention of the printing press.
If that sounds racist, please understand: I don't care.
I lol'd.
Re the diversity stuff, America managed it in the beginning because of a shared religion. There were a lot of big moments, massive racial tensions throughout the growing pains of America. There was a period where it seemed everybody hated everybody else, and having a similar shade of skin didn't mean anything to anybody. Italians hated the everybody else, Russians hated everyone else, Welsh hated everyone else. But they all latched onto that "American Dream" and Constitution in the face of being the only country free of an overreaching government in the church. Within a generation or two they all came to the same ideal of "we're Americans first, we're going to speak English, and we are going to work together to build a free country."
Without that, 'diversity' most certainly does not work and inevitably leads to conflict. Always.
This is why it's less about melanin and more about "homogenous". But as we've moved through time and developed tribes and then cultures, the melanin and haplo groups became ... correlated with the cultures.
American Culture is based upon a creed, diminishing the role of culture and/or race. This is a good thing. This is... the best thing.
But we aren't teaching that, anymore. Unless and until we return to that, we're going to have issues, and more tribalism, and more break-down, and more violence.
"And another thing". Having been raised in a certain sort of family, I was told... again and again... that "Idle Hands Are the Devil's Plaything."
Why is that relevant. Because of what you wrote.
"... we are going to work together to build a free country."
Work. Together.
America is like any good dog. Dog needs a job. Dog is happy when Dog has a job. We are descended from risk-takers. Pioneers. Canada shares a lot of that with us as well.
We need a new challenge. Ideally several. And ideally ones presented in a positive manner... not another Doomsday we need to figure out how to narrowly avoid.
This is why I had a big smile and a good laff when Trump revealed.... Space Force!!!!
Instead of "Go X or Go Y, young man", now it's "Go Z young man."
Yes, conquering space would be such a good thing for humanity, exactly why the elites fight hard to shut down advancement in any direction other than means of societal control. :/
The only frontier left on earth is the deep sea, and it provides just as much technical complication as space. We need to expand our horizons in both directions. There's an extra two thirds of the planet available to us if we figured it out. More potential for food growth and mining than all the surface of the planet combined.
But no, 'global warming will kill us and we're overpopulated, quick find a way to kill off half the population!'
The oceans are far more hospitable to humanity than a rock with no atmosphere slowly circling a dim star (e.g. Mars). But I think we need to do both. The Moon First (in terms of the ^ direction).
