Yes, conquering space would be such a good thing for humanity, exactly why the elites fight hard to shut down advancement in any direction other than means of societal control. :/

The only frontier left on earth is the deep sea, and it provides just as much technical complication as space. We need to expand our horizons in both directions. There's an extra two thirds of the planet available to us if we figured it out. More potential for food growth and mining than all the surface of the planet combined.

But no, 'global warming will kill us and we're overpopulated, quick find a way to kill off half the population!'

The oceans are far more hospitable to humanity than a rock with no atmosphere slowly circling a dim star (e.g. Mars). But I think we need to do both. The Moon First (in terms of the ^ direction).
