I'm going to preface this by saying I used to both work in and later run a computer repair shop (currently still work with computers but focus more on business IT so I don't see much personal stuff these days).
Something I found kinda weird about the NYPost story and Rudy Giuliani's message today was that the computer repair shop turned the laptop over to the FBI. Having worked in that exact industry, we don't just turn laptops over to the FBI because there's some raunchy photos on it. Drugs? If it's turned over at all it'd be to the local police and they take it from there. Prostitution? Same thing. Just about everything else is "none of our business" and we don't "see" anything.
There is, however, one case where we are, in fact, required by law to report and turn over a computer/hard drive/device to the FBI (if we didn't we could get in big trouble): Child Porn.
Now I'm not going to pretend I know what's all on that laptop. Hell, I'm still not quite 100% sure it's even real (although the photos we've seen today make a pretty strong case). But the fact it was turned over to the FBI, and then we see Giuliani state there are illegal things on it, definitely makes you wonder if we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg here.
Think it simply is because it was information relevant to a high stake impeachment of the President – of all people. It was not some Hollywood or silicon kid but a kid in the midst of a case with focus from the entire world.
It was also material connected to a high level political person like Joe Biden. That brings up national security concerns.
One scenario is that the shop owner contacted a lawyer, politician, Bannon or the like - who in turn advised him to make a copy and notify the FBI. If they did not do anything with it, then leak it at a appropriate time.
That said. It likely does not matter much. Biden has publicly bragged about using US funds to blackmail an ally. The fact that Burisma got access to the VP and the White House is something everyone has known for years. Thing is that they do not care. The media and big tech do not care. They want to preserve the swamp.
Ed: As another point. Countries, and now I talk about western countries, paid millions into the Clinton Fundation right up til she lost the election. Why? To get access. Western “oh, we're so clean and hate bade orange man” democracies 100% in on pay for play. Why does western democracies attack Trump so much? Because they lost a lot of their access by money. Suddenly they have to do things to advance the relation ship like spend money on NATO.
Big politics is nothing but a huge scam. Trump is one in a century personality that actually manages to rock with some of it's foundation.
