I originally made a few replies on a post about the man who was allegedly kicked off for a Trump mask...

First off, I'm a flight attendant. I do NOT work for Southwest.

I looooathe having to do extra paperwork. PLEASE PLEASE do not assume that all of us are seeking out reasons to kick off people. I hate having to find a computer while I'm in a hotel to type out what happened and why when I have had to kick people off for being intoxicated/belligerent.

There have been times where passengers have been trying to get around wearing a mask by slowly eating or drinking. That is, they will take itty bitty bites/sips. Hur hur, I aM dRiNkiNg aNd EaTiNG lolz. Please don't do this. I will not respect you for sticking it to the Man/Libs/whatever by violating the policy of a private company. You can vote with your wallet and ballot.

I did not want to believe he was guilty of willfully disobeying crew members. I have some FA friends I have muted on social media because of their TDS postings. HOWEVER It did not help his case that while the FA is talking to him about removing him that he kept his mask off.

It's really annoying to have to be put in a damned if you do or don't position. You could have a Karen passenger reporting the FAs for NOT enforcing the masking policy.

Now airline safety protocols are pretty much standard. Every time there is an accident or incident, we have 24 hours to write a report. We are instructed to not ever speak to journalists/media. Keeping that in mind, I waited to look up any sort of Southwest statement.

I got this: https://liveandletsfly.com/southwest-airlines-trump-mask/

TL;DR

He was asked multiple times since boarding to put his mask on by multiple FAs. In the video it seems like it was during boarding that he was ejected. They actually returned back to the gate from taxiing. The blogger made some points I mentioned before and some additional ones I didn't notice initially. I highly recommend reading it.

My own 2 cents:

Willfully disobeying crew member instructions to the point that the plane is delayed/returned to gate is the EXACT SAME THING as blocking traffic on a highway. When you buy a ticket, check into a flight, board, sit in your seat, etc you agree and are reminded each time to keep your mask on.

You are putting other people's lives on hold. You have no idea why other people are traveling. There are funerals, weddings, births, once in a lifetime trips.

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/SWA2632/history/20201013/1400Z/KTPA/KDAL

It seems that the flight was only delayed 35 minutes. That is enough for people to miss connections especially if they are wrangling small children.

Please don't be that guy.

Let's not be the people that jump with glee when a rioter gets pwned while ignoring bad behavior of our fellow supporters.

Take your masks and shove them up your backside!! If you want to walk around with a kotex on your face...do so. Don't tell me what I have to do when the CDC doesn't think they help.

Ok. Follow FAA regulations when your flying then which includes following crew member instructions that go along with airline policy.

You are welcome to drive yourself to your destination or see if NetJets has options.

No thanks. I won't fly again until the commies running the industry, politicizing along tyrant governors (for no reason except to hurt our President) remove illegal unconstitutional restrictions. I hear the airlines are struggling...have you?

Time to stand up like an American, not cower like sheep. Open up our country...then, even if you didn't take economics in school, your industry will flourish once again. Except I will never fly SW due to this incident until they apologize to America.

I seriously applaud you for this. (My tone even offline can sound sarcastic, but I'm not).

There is a great blend of political diversity among crew members. To put together a majority group of crew members from different airlines who refuse to enforce masking is near to impossible.

Like any job, most people just want to work without having to get political. Let me make sure I get my passengers safely from Point A to Point B as comfortably as possible.

I'm in uniform. I'm not in a position to discuss or endorse political leanings. Every now and then, when I do mention politics, I cover my wings and say, "Out of uniform, not representing my airline, I believe..."

It's easy to take a stand at a keyboard in the safety of your own home. It's another to upset dozens of people in a pressurized metal tube flying 500+mph in the air.

You can tell from my name my business is public. I never wear a mask. I wouldn't work with any snowflake client who tried to forced me either. Many in my business won't stand up to tyranny because they're afraid of losing business. Luckily, those who initiated our freedom weren't a bunch of sheeple No one ever changed anything by submitting.

You have a choice in how you travel.

You agree to follow the masking protocols several times before you enter the aircraft.

It wasn't a case of him just slowly eating. He was told multiple times to put his mask on from boarding. Was he walking and eating? I don't know.

You typically have 3 FAs and 2 pilots. So that is a combined effort of 5 Federally licensed professionals that are making the decision to remove you from a flight.

Believe me, I will feel even more joy about masking policies being canceled then when we didn't have to order electronics off during taxi/takeoff/landing. (Airplane mode saves your battery btw)

The policies that people agree to before flying...?

It's the same thing as breaking a contract to me.

What's the time limit you put on someone "hurr durr eating"? 5 minutes? 12 minutes? 45 minutes?

As I commented on Reddit: During my safety demonstration, I noticed a passenger pulling off his mask to eat a single chip at a time then putting his mask on to chew it. Bless him, I told him it was okay to just take off his mask to eat normally.

I am not going to be standing over all my passengers to make sure they are keeping their masks on 100% of the time.

Masking aside, you see enough examples of people trying to sneak around regulations to know the difference between genuine innocence ("I didn't know my seat wasn't upright") and lying (passenger pushes back seat once they see my back is turned).

Nope, don’t care if someone reports you for not enforcing the mask policy, you’re still a Karen for enforcing it. “I wAs JUsT fOlLowInG oRdERs”

Masking aside, I don't want to deal with a passenger who is belligerently disregarding crew member instructions.

We have to think about how bad behavior on the ground may escalate to something worse in the air.

Diversions can cost airlines in the $100000s. I don't want to deal with mutiny in air.

Look, I’m not actually pissed at you, but I don’t accept the excuse from employees of large corporations enforcing mask policies that “it’s their job” tyranny will be enforced by big corporations through their employees.

If anyone is mad at me, it's because they don't know me personally.

I see it like men being required to wear a jacket at the 21 Club (for those unaware: it's a super fancy restaurant in Manhattan). It's not tyranny to ask people to follow the rules of a private business.

What IS tyranny is States' mandatory 2 week quarantines.

Ok Komrade, the airlines also get a fuck ton of taxpayer money 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah, I'm not crazy about that either.

  1. If he was, why was he ejected?
  2. Don't fly commercial. Try corporate flying.
  3. It's not corporate flying, so I have to consider the needs/wants of ALL the passengers not just one.

I hear you, but nothing changes if we kiss Corporate ass.

Liberals have changed Companies they dont even Shop at...so let's not pretend any of this is business as usual...

momentsofnicole [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Ejecting willfully noncompliant passengers has been business as usual. The masking issue makes it new.

3
PutinPaganda 3 points ago +3 / -0

Clearly defined policy, seems to be the issue right now.

How slowly I eat my food is irrelevant. Make it a nonissue, dont allow food.

Yes, I'll make sure to mention that to my fellow Trump voter coworkers.

How do you do that?

Cog wheel in upper left, settings, community styling.

Also helps covert scrolling while at work.
