Before social media banned and removed all mentions of the Hunter Biden emails/pics and the NY Post story, the Biden campaign could have simply refused to acknowledge any of it or suggested that it was a crazy conspiracy theory and not a big deal... and most people would have moved on from it a week later, rolling their eyes at any further mention.

But when all mention of the story is banned, and official government accounts are suspended for linking to it, NOW IT'S A STORY, and the apparent cover-up strengthens the legitimacy of the information for many onlookers. The Biden campaign can't shrug it off saying it's no big deal anymore. They were forced to take a stance saying it was fake.

They are experiencing the Streisand Effect, big time.

The other side effect to this is Section 230 reforms would become a reality where platforms can be punished if they act like editorial publishers.
