He didn't follow up on the loose end, for two reasons: (1) thanks to Apple iCloud he got all his files and email back on the shiny new device, and (2) there was at least a chance it wouldn't matter in the sense of leaking. Therefore why should a crackhead care?

How about this… intelligence agencies that have been reported to collect us citizens info , like on iCloud etc, obviously had all this stuff too. maybe a patriot leaked it? It’s happened many times before.
