I think they are doing this intentionally to make the right complacent and get the left out to vote. The first year or so of Trump's presidency was everyone saying CNN gave him free coverage and so on. That they pushed Trump's losing so hard that no one came out to vote. Now, they are doing the opposite.
"GUYS, TRUMP IS AKSHUALLY POPULAR" to scare in a few more left votes in swing states.
