Exactly.
In Italian food for instance, there's some chilli but it's meant to accompany and complement the flavor and not cover it. If it burns your mouth you might as well be eating polystyrene.
All Indian food does not taste the same. There are many wonderful dishes that have distinct flavors and I have made from scratch and enjoyed many myself.
Western cuisine is wonderful and certainly uses a variety of delicious spices, seasonings and techniques, but it does not stand alone on the stage of delicious food.
Because cultures around the world including western ones haven’t done the exact same thing at some point in time.
You act like a dish can’t be enjoyed because it may have been used or even developed to mask bad food? Sounds like maybe it did a good job and is therefore tasty.
This thread is starting to sound more like an indictment of people and their cultures instead of the merits of good seasonings and food.
This thread was pointing out that white people (or western culture) have more to their cuisine than salt and pepper. I agree. Then people started attacking other cultures food, and for the exact thing this thread was trying to defend western cuisine with (usage of more spices and seasonings).
Then the conversation devolved to subtle attacks on the cultures and their choice of cuisine, again, exactly what this thread was trying to prevent in regards to “whites people cuisine”.
If you people are shills, you’re not very good at it. If you’re genuine people, perhaps you could expand your culinary horizons a bit.
I’m not going to defend shitting in the streets, I’m also not going to defend white trash welfare families and their disgusting practices who enjoy western cuisine.
I’m just pointing out that other cultures have varied and delicious food that rivals our own. Regardless of cultural practices or how a dish came to be.
Dude. It's okay. You don't have to pretend to not be Indian and it's okay for you to defend your food if you like it. We are doing the same thing with our food.
We're going to shit on yours because it does pretty much all taste the same, for the exact reason you said, it developed as a way to hide the taste of rotting meat, just like western cuisine did, and it does it very well.
We are laughing because our culture doesn't need to do that anymore and yours does. We don't try to defend our past overseasoning as a culinary choice like you are, it was a necessity. You're trying to convince us that the stuff we moved past as a civilization 300 years ago is actually super great just because other cultures haven't advanced far enough to leave it behind.
It's okay to laugh at yourself, it's okay to admit some cultures are superior to others, and it's okay to admit that it's funny that people still do some things in 2020.
You do realize he's right, or at least partially right. Equatorial countries have much more spoilage due to higher temperatures which is part of why they season their food so heavily, to cover up for it going bad. Europeans are no different, they were so motivated to import spices for the same reason, to cover up their own food spoilage.
My family is mostly German, and let me tell you, black people never made Sauerbraten....takes 4 days, is marinated in wine and several seasonings, including juniper berries....
White people are the reason so many spices have become worldwide spices. Did you know one of the first cook books ever written was called "The Forme of Cury"? You know, Cury? It wasn't written by Indians, it was written by white European chefs writing down the white European food they served at events.
Who the fuck do these people think brought these spices to the world. It wasn't fucking India! (They weren't a country back then, the many warring states had accomplished nothing)
I recommend that if you hear anyone repeat this lie that white people don't season food, just tell them to look at what Queen Victoria was eating, or what renaissance and medieval chefs were cooking. You will find so much spice in these dishes that it would make the most seasoned street-shitter blow his load all over the road.
Some good sources for this:

Royal Upstairs/Downstairs, and the "Real Royalty" youtube channel in general (Total propaganda by the BBC but lots of interesting history and high production value)
There's actually a reason why black people are stereotyped for liking spicy or heavily-seasoned food:
Its because they ate cheap and disgusting things and needed to somehow disguise the flavor.
Slaves were given only the worst and unwanted parts of the animals. Pig feet and tripe and stuff like that became black delicacies because that's what they were given. And a lot of the food they were given was often spoiled or unpalatable, so by piling on spices and seasoning, it became something they could still manage to eat.
Even after they were freed, they still had developed a palette and tradition of cooking foods that were dirt cheap and unwanted by the majority white population.
BBQ Pit Boys sell SPG - salt, pepper, and garlic
Emeril Lagasse sells Emeril's Essence - paprika, garlic powder, salt, & pepper
Wolfgang Puck sells a four spice blend - including lemon pepper, rosemary garlic, sesame seed, and mustard seed
Gordon Ramsay routinely screams at contestants on Hell's Kitchen and MasterChef for not properly seasoning their food.
Hard to get much whiter than those guys.
My mom grew up in Arkansas. When I see 'soul food' on tv, it's the same stuff my white family ate when I was a kid. Of course, my mom used to kill her own chickens for dinner, so maybe we weren't typical.
Ahh yeah, those coonasses down in Louisiana can cook their behinds off!!
I do believe some of the worlds best chefs are.. white? Right? Didnt FoodTv make a boatload of money on the work of a handful of white celebrity chefs?
MORE IMPORTANTLY... I don't care what color my chef is.. nobody here does.

Indian food = protein/veggie + every spice in the cabinet + heavy cream.
How else you going to cover up the taste of rotten meat?
You joke, but that's exactly why spicy food is more prevalent in societies in warmer climates.
Because cultures around the world including western ones haven’t done the exact same thing at some point in time.

We also used to shit in holes in the ground, but we stopped doing that centuries ago too.
So I guess that makes India 0/2 in the civilization department.

LOL Based
Shitting in holes in the ground is still a thing in the Appalachians. Just saying. :P
I mean, I shit in holes in the ground all the time when I'm out backpacking or hunting.
I don't do it in the alley behind my house.
Bruh, if you like your food smothered in cream and the entire spice drawer, thats you dawg. I'm just using my 1st Amendment, for the win.
Ok, you’re clearly trolling, got it.
First of all, while there are certainly Indian dishes like this, they aren’t all like this.
Secondly, I’ve made western dishes with far more seasonings than Indian dishes.
The more seasonings you can fit in, the more layers of flavor. Hence “11 herbs and seasonings”. Look up “the spice companion” by Lior Lev Sercarz.
Ah, truth! The standard herbs that I insist on: thyme, dill, basil, rosemary, sage, chives, tarragon, oregano, mint, chervil, lemon verbena.
And cocain, don't forget the cocain...
Signed,

Cilantro, bro.
This is the crux of it. Black people seem to think that "seasoning" means "make shit so hot you can barely tolerate it".
I love hot sauce. I don't like hot sauce that tastes like pain and regret, and it doesn't make you better than me that you do.
My food has delicacy, finesse, and depth. Everything you eat tastes like grease and hot sauce.
According to Hillary, it is!
And you can take that to the bank!
The Brits literally conquered most of the world for spices and tea.
The Romans used to pay their soldiers in salt.
That's where the word 'salary' comes from.
The more you know.
Idea: Fight obesity in the black community by pointing to Caribbean sugar plantations and say it is the tool of white supremacy
Exactly. Asian food comes spicy because they used to use spice to try and disinfect their food. It's for lack of hygiene that they got into spice.

I was told by a food scientist that Mexican food has so many spices because of this very reason. I assume it's true for other hot climates as well.
fucking burn. nice.
Don't forget they classified "pizza" as a vegetable too.
not wrong, have you eaten a standard persons food? doesn't matter race most people can't cook anything worth while
So true.
"Wow this is delicious what did you do!?"
"Uh... I used salt, and I didn't overcook it?"
holy shit just @ me next time
Especially Cajuns. That stuff brings the spice!
Not sure Lebanese count as white.
It depends on the individual's political views.
in my experience black people like a ton of salt and sugar on things.
My family is mostly German, and let me tell you, black people never made Sauerbraten....takes 4 days, is marinated in wine and several seasonings, including juniper berries....
I love German food, their beer ain’t too bad either
Bratwurst may be the most perfect food in the world. I get mine shipped from Usinger in Wisconsin every year.
I am a schnitzel man myself but bratwurst is pretty good too.

History and liberals don't mix.
Food seasoning was originally used to hide the fact the meat was rotting or to slow the rotting process down.
There's actually a reason why black people are stereotyped for liking spicy or heavily-seasoned food:

Can confirm that pig's feet is still sold in East St Louis.
Because iron chef was never a thing, right?
Needs mo sodium
conquered a lot of places for the spice, invented gourmet. cucks gonna cuck fren
My homemade chili would have to disagree.
MUTHERFUCKER I FUCKIN LOVE YOU!!!
no homo.
Is it DUCK SEASON or RABBIT SEASON?
In China, it's dog season
Isn’t fall bat season ?
mmmmm duck and rabbit. the other other white meats.
I love rabbit. when cooked well it is an incredible meat.

Soul food aint bothing but po people food.
And that shit is GOOD!
High fat and yada yada yada but most Doctors say if it tastes good spit it out.
My mom grew up in Arkansas. When I see 'soul food' on tv, it's the same stuff my white family ate when I was a kid. Of course, my mom used to kill her own chickens for dinner, so maybe we weren't typical.
Sounds pretty typical to me!
I'd be raising chickens now if the ole lady wasn't so squeamish about it!
As a white person, there is some truth to the thought.
My mom complimented my pork chops and asked me what I used to season them. Salt and pepper. Just more of it than she uses.
A fresh from the butcher pork chop seasoned with ground salt and ground pepper is really good.
Honestly, that meme is pretty funny
Go to Louisiana some time for some Cajun food you philistines.
Because we spend most of our time forming proper sentences.
Ahh yeah, those coonasses down in Louisiana can cook their behinds off!!
I do believe some of the worlds best chefs are.. white? Right? Didnt FoodTv make a boatload of money on the work of a handful of white celebrity chefs?

Whites conquered the whole planet to control the spice trade, and then just basically said, meh, salt and pepper are just fine, really.
He who controls the spice controls the universe.
