What if it is something that does require attention but the oil industry fund politicians like AOC and others to purpose ridiculous solutions so that we doubt and dismiss the topic?

Don't forget acid rain, the ozone layer, and the loss of the rainforests. I think we cycled through all of those before I was out of high school.

When I make a reasoned argument with mature adults against the global warming hysteria, I bring all of that up. I'm a touch too young for global cooling (I was around, but a toddler) but I bring up The Clash, "London Calling," which, in part, deals with global cooling (I heard an interview a few years ago with one of the guys in the band, who said that Mick Jones (or maybe it was Joe Strummer) was absolutely terrified of global cooling).

Then, by 3rd or 4th grade, we were putting pennies outside of the classroom so we could see how acid rain was corroding them; by 7th grade feathered hair was the rage, and all my female classmates were destroying the ozone layer with their hairspray; by the time I got to college, wiping your ass was destroying the earth because of rainforests. Post-college, the ice caps were melting and NYC was going to be under the sea; and then we reached the much more sustainable "climate change," which just includes everything, so you're never wrong. It's an environmental crisis du jour, and you, you evil son of a bitch, are responsible for it.
