It unfortunately exists. It stems from an ancient Babylon sacrificial ritual. There were over 20 children sainted by the catholic church such as Simon of Treant when their small lifeless broken bodies were found drained of their blood.

These children remained as official saints untill around the 1960's when it was decided that the church no longer wanted to bring attention to blood sacrifice rituals.
