Our Comm's & Electronic Surveillance Tech was a Ex British Military, Woman who had done 2 tours in Helmand Province & seen combat .She was proudly Gay & had been with her partner for 6 years back then , it never caused any problems with our teams, even though we were for months over the couple of years we worked together, literally trapped shoulder to shoulder in cramped SUV's ,sharing accommodation etc traveling or watching each others back in some of the most dangerous places on the planet.
We are still close friends to this day ,she married her girlfriend about 5 years ago & they have both been to our Ranch for holidays 8 times since we got out. I do a bit of guiding to supplement the Ranch income ,she had hunted rabbits & ducks in the UK but never deer etc .She has been on 3 hunts with me & bagged some nice Deer & Elk & now hunts in the UK,they are both welcome to share my fire any time.

I like to blow leftists minds with my experience of getting outed when I served. It was pre DADT. Some barracks mates were talking and were overhead by a very by the book NCOIC. He reported what he overheard. I was E5 and still under 4 (and looked 15). I was just not allowed to re-up. No article 15 or anything. That NCOIC felt terrible. My First Shirt was concerned about my emotional state and made it clear that I had his and everyone's support.
The only rough part was the fact that my barracks mates were now afraid to associate with me, but privately, every single one of them made sure that I knew that I had their support. I was complemented on my composure. After a week or two, barracks life went back to normal.
The take away is that as long as a person acts with integrity, conservatives don't really give a shit about a persons sex life. The military is concerned with one thing and one thing only. The ability to win wars.
