Because Q made people follow politics - regardless if he's right/wrong/a psyop/etc.

Normal people only pay attention to Washington or their local elections once every four years - if they're lucky. But, in 2016, when things like Wikileaks hit the internet, social media exploded with interesting theories and hidden scandals and obvious corruption. People were enthralled. They wanted to keep researching and examining the political structure of DC and learn more about what's happening behind the scenes.

Thus began Q, and the regular media outlets realized it was a big problem.

Suddenly, people learning more about government and the important players -- could anyone REALLY name the deputy director of the FBI or follow the DOJ chain of command prior to 2016?

Suddenly, they were following literally everything Trump said, tuning into every single rally and reading every single thing posted from the White House. They were the ones who bypassed the media and heard the news directly from the Trump Administration.

Suddenly, they were the ones who learned how to pressure elected officials via social media to take action - Release The Memo, anyone?

Suddenly, they were encouraging each other to investigate certain political families outside of the usual Clinton circles - people like Pelosi and Feinstein.

Suddenly, their forum became a place to aggregate news stories that were swept under the rug in places like Reddit and Twitter - interesting stories that show corruption and distorted truths/lies in the media.

At this point - who the hell CARES if Q is right or wrong or something true or false. The forum itself became a bastion of knowledge organized by some dedicated people who enjoy researching superpacs and political organizations and bank records and God knows what else.

That's why the media is so frightened. They never thought it'd be possible for everyday people to do their own research.
