The ballots don't need to change, you'd still be choosing between the same tickets of electors even though most states try to hide them.
If Biden dropped out now people can still vote for the Democrat ticket of electors like normal. The DNC would nominate a new candidate and that's who those electors would vote for in the EC, unless they went faithless.

He doesn't win until the Electoral College officially votes for him in December, so as long as he dies before that, then yeah. The DNC would still have to choose someone eligible under the Constitution obviously.
But what's important is the electors are the ones choosing at the end of the day. In practice they can vote for whoever they want, and the nominees don't matter. I don't think there's any method in place to change an elector's vote once it's cast (and I don't think it would be Constitutional if there were), so all states can do is try to replace them beforehand or punish them after.
A lot of states have “pledged delegates” laws where they have to vote for the person that won the state’s election. There were a couple EC voters in 2016 in Hillary states that voted for random people, they were told they had to change their vote to their state’s actual winner, they refused to change their vote so they were replaced with someone that would vote for the winner. Voting for POTUS/VP isn't like all other votes, you're voting indirectly for Electors for the Electoral College. Not sure that article confirms. It states that the ballot can switch after convention and they can out a new name in the ticket, but it doesn't validate that voting for a specific ticket automatically transfers those votes for next in party ticket.

The ballots don't need to change, you'd still be choosing between the same tickets of electors even though most states try to hide them.
If Biden dropped out now people can still vote for the Democrat ticket of electors like normal. The DNC would nominate a new candidate and that's who those electors would vote for in the EC, unless they went faithless.

He doesn't win until the Electoral College officially votes for him in December, so as long as he dies before that, then yeah. The DNC would still have to choose someone eligible under the Constitution obviously.
But what's important is the electors are the ones choosing at the end of the day. In practice they can vote for whoever they want, and the nominees don't matter. I don't think there's any method in place to change an elector's vote once it's cast (and I don't think it would be Constitutional if there were), so all states can do is try to replace them beforehand or punish them after.
A lot of states have “pledged delegates” laws where they have to vote for the person that won the state’s election. There were a couple EC voters in 2016 in Hillary states that voted for random people, they were told they had to change their vote to their state’s actual winner, they refused to change their vote so they were replaced with someone that would vote for the winner. Don’t think they’d be able to get around that.

Voting for POTUS/VP isn't like all other votes, you're voting indirectly for Electors for the Electoral College. So it could be messy, with electoral college votes going to biden, some going to Kamala/whoever, etc. Really depends on how coordinated/last-minute this all is.
