wow really? I didn't pay attention in 2016 and didn't vote (but sure as hell am in 2020), but I imagine the level of mainstream propaganda was unprecedented and the fact that he was never a politician made it seem like a long shot.
If you paid enough attention it was fairly obvious that something special was going on in America. We all knew it would be a red wave as long as they didn’t rig the election. Also you could see it in the polling data in 2016 if you dig into the numbers. It’s hidden from most people’s eyes but it was there to see if you looked deep enough. Lots of anecdotal evidence that just didn’t fit what the media narrative was gave away the lies.

We got a Trump mask and MAGA hat shipped over for a joke Halloween costume. Halloween isn't a big deal there, but we lived in an area with a high concentration of expats. I thought Trump was a joke and didn't take the time to vote. Now, as some great patriot remarked recently, "I would crawl through glass to now vote for Trump." And I will never miss another vote again.
They did remote remarks, this year was tamer so it didn't get a ton of attention. On the other hand, Cardinal Dolan opened the entire Republican National Convention this year.
