I think Trump should continue using Twitter. I think if he wanted to use an alternate way to communicate directly with us, he'd get his own Trump app and send us information directly through it. Oh wait, he already has his own Trump app where he could send us messages, he just prefers to use Twitter because he's a master at Twitter and he was able to use it to get elected in 2016, even with great resistance.

It's gonna happen anyway. This site's servers are not equipped to deal with the amount of traffic it'll see on election night. Unless the admins upgrade to a fuckin' supercomputer this site is guaranteed to be down during election night, not only due to the increase in traffic but also due to the higher amount of attacks that will be launched at us. i completely agree, matrix would be a great idea. i really wish this community would embrace open-source a lot more. i know that pre-existing technologies like skype and discord work well and all, but when they have shown their teeth and will spy/cancel your account any time you "step out of line", we need to consider using more robust technologies that are truly open-source.
worst case scenario, someone could fork the technology and make something better. these closed-source programs are convenient, but not all-encompassing. we can do better. all i can do is advocate as i do not know how to code, but i'm very tech-savvy and know that there are ways to mitigate our current situations' issues.

We definitely do need a real American communications platform, but relying on Twitter was a necessary evil because it had established itself as one of the de facto methods of mass communication.
Think of the social media landscape as contested territory. A limited resource that Big Tech conquered and holds. If you started a platform from scratch, Big Tech would squeeze you out either purposefully or through the inherent lack of social media space.
Even .win had to start through reddit, because reddit had the eyeballs to cluster a critical mass of like-minded people together.
We're in a very good position now though, and this message for an independent comm platform is very well timed.
Thedonald.win was a godsend, Reddit became too restrictive. Twitter will fall, the next big thing will be bought out by big tech before it can make a true impact. We have smart pedes, whatever the outcome it needs to provide a space for lurkers, those not ready to commit
