NE here. Couple of things not mentioned in the story but might be helpful to know:

  1. This is along I80 and smack dab between 2 of the 3 major "university towns" in the state (Lincoln and Kearney) so it wouldn't surprise me if the people who did this aren't from the local area.

  2. It was definitely intentional/arson. 6-7am on the 15th it was about 35-40ish degrees outside and that equipment would have been sitting overnight so it was rock cold. The only piece of equipment that could have feasibly ignited was maybe the combine if something caught and was smoldering internally when they finished for the day. But the tractors and trucks? Not a chance.

  3. This one definitely hurts because it was already shaping up to be a leaner-ish year in this area due to a lack of rain this summer and with crop prices being in the dumpster as it is, it is NOT the year to lose equipment.

Hopefully the sheriffs will find the fuckers who did this and they serve substantial penalties.

Aware of any local fundraising or GoFundMe efforts that we could contribute to? If he has insurance which is not necessarily a given considering the low profit margins for farmers, insurance won't cover all of that plus the timeframe necessary to replace his equipment.
