Had a teacher who had a doctorate in education. She spoke to the class as if we were retarded. First six weeks of school I have read 70+ books and taken a lexus test on comprehension. I have a 165% in her class because of her extra point system. She informs me the day progress reports were going home that she was changing the scoring system. Not for the class but only for me. She graded her class based on "participation" for a portion of the overall score along with district benchmark testing. I read the damn book we were reading in class the first fucking day or week we started the damn thing and took the stupid test with a perfect score. I would keep my book on the page the class was reading and if called on would read the section I was assigned. My crime was that I was always reading a book of my choosing while the idiots stumbled over The Giver or Animal Farm. I went home that day with a 66% on my progress report and my parents took no excuses for failure so damn near 2 decades later I'm still waiting for her to join RBG. I might add she interjected all kinds of stupid crap into our mandated reading because she didn't agree with something that was being portrayed.

I am so sorry. There are so many assholes in education.

If it makes you feel any better, I have massive cognitive dissonance and I feel your pain, deeply.

Ametican kids deserve great educations, and too often public schools are pits of childhood despair and torment.

I see it in my students' faces.

Homeschool. Regardless of your academic background, you are qualified. No one loves your kid more than you will, so no one can educate your kid more effectively than you can, given the will to do do and unfettered access to the interwebz or even a public library.

If any of you whove bothered to read this far down thread want support in getting started please reach out to me. The taxpayers pay me well and I'm happy to pay it forward.

No reason to be sorry, I also had many teachers who were probably like you who allowed me to get away with being an individual as long as I passed their classes. I was lucky and had a school who was so based that they lied to let me join the Army 6 months early.
