If you've ever seen the movie "Sneakers" (Highly recommended), his character in that movie is basically how he is. I like Dan, and his work, a lot, but he was raised by a ghost-whisperer. Lets be honest Randy Quaid was the real star of National Lampoons Christmas and independence day.
Randy was doing some pretty interesting roles early in his career - he got a role with Nicholson in "The Last Detail", was in "Paper Moon", "Missouri Breaks", and "Midnight Express". And then it was a string of shit parts, until "Vacation" - meanwhile his brother blew up huge. Then it was just a weird ride of parts until Independence Day and Kingpin (his best role, honestly), and then back to weirdness.
It's iike he has a ton of potential...but for some reason, has only been able to shine once in a while. Plus his crazy years, the last decade or so.
