I tend towards this being just the biggest political windfall because of a drug addict incompetent, who screwed a lot of really corrupt criminals, who's life is worth less alive than dead now.
Maybe a staffer of his turned it in, and pretended to be him. Maybe Hunter did it on purpose - he's a drug addict, expect insanity from those types, maybe he was being wracked with guilt. Or suicidal. Or thought he'd be safer in prison, but didn't have the balls to take his computer to the Feds - and he'd be in a position to know that.
Who knows? We don't.
I suspect that what's on Hunter's drives is the same as the material on the other 3 drives being talked about - but only his videos, sent as proof of what they have and why he can't stop now. According to the Chinese whistleblower, Pelosi and others were sent material of multiple people - and almost certainly of Hunter, as he says they did.
But again, we don't know for sure.

It would seem strange to consider a small computer repair tech as the biggest break in a international scandal of this magnitude...but maybe that's why it went that route. Because nobody would expect it. Maybe you're right. Maybe they knew the drives had been delivered to Pelosi and the DOJ and the FBI, and they sat on them, so Team Trump said "See what we do. We have copies. Enjoy the headlines."
Rudy had been talking about this stuff a year ago. He had info from other sources and this computer repair guy was additional corroboration and supplemental info, is how I read this. But the stuff Rudy had a year ago from his personal visits.to Ukraine was personal recollection from actors involved in the govt at the time. Remember when Trump said to Ukraine president to ‘talk with Barr and Rudy’ during the perfect phone call that got him impeached? And Chanel Rion, the reporter, interviewed Rudy and some Ukrainian players, in Ukraine, and published her interviews back then? I was curious then why that story never had legs but I guess ‘impeachment of Trump’ was the sexier story at the time.

I agree. I should note waste time speculating but I don’t think there is much depth to Hunter Bidens mind as you described. I think he simply fell for the classic “honey pot” foreign spy scheme. He was too careless. He must be the easiest target for any foreign spies, and exactly the reason why Biden should not be elected. Remember Pence saying he would not have dinner with a woman without his wife present? Pence knows The basics and practice safely.
If any of us were a computer repair guy and a Trump supporter, knowing that abandoned property is ours, you bet we’d be going through that Hunter hard drive.

Hunters laptop had water damage. This prompted the drop off at the repair shop.
