Same feeling. Proud gun owner but I just don't have this love affair with each one of them. They're tools and I'm glad I have them but I don't take pictures of my cordless drills and post them to the internet. Along with gun day, I also get irritated with all the Biden poll posts and then the endless comments about how their going to cheat and win. Always found it very strange at how gun-obsessed some people are. Yeah, it’s fun to shoot stuff, it’s nice to have a way to stop a potential home invasion (God forbid). But to build an entire self identity around simply owning guns, which practically everyone can do, seems a bit much.
Another way to put it is, the way gun ownership is being touted most of the time when it’s “excessive” is not in the form of a hobby. There are gunsmiths who build businesses out of making guns and they are craftsmen and craftswomen who I’d listen to all day about their workflow and tooling and all.
But there’s a difference between that and hearing all this circlejerking about how patriotic it is to have bought a shotgun from Dick’s.

Sunday is usually a slow news day. Gun posts don't exactly flood the top posts to the point where everything else is hidden. And this has always been an all-purpose site. It's what makes this place (and it's predecessor) unique. A mix of news, culture, humor, and all things Trump. Trying to dick around with new rules and regulations on what gets posted would just kill the formula and turn this into mini-reddit. If you don't like the gun posts, skip them. Period. Ironically this post is about election fraud and the top posts are all about how Sunday Gunday is bad and hand-wringing over looking like "gun nuts" to people that don't like you anyway. Post or upvote content you like and want to see. Don't worry about the rest.
I've been saying it for months. The fun meme shit, Trump babes, and gun posts have their place, but they really need to be put into a different sub. There should be subwins for Memes, News, Discussion, and Pics/Vids. There is way too much important news and quality discussion that gets bumped off the front never to be seen again within minutes of being posted because there is just so much of the fun but unimportant stuff cluttering the feed. They really need to be separated complete with their own stickies, new/rising/hot filters, etc.
This site could do so much more good in the right places if the admins were willing to put in a little more effort to make it happen. Fun and Memes are important, but there's real work to do too, and this site could be better designed at making that work happen.

Well sticker are an aspect of the actual main problem, in that there is so much content being posted here regularly that posts have very little time to make enough of an impact to not get flushed away within a few minutes, and it's basically luck of the draw whether or not there are enough people online right at the moment who might be into your post enough to upvote it enough to not have it get flushed. There could be 50 people who are into keto online at 935am, but if you made your post asking for keto advice at 925am and those 50 people weren't online, congrats, no one saw your post and it's functionally gone. 60 different memes and gun posts pushed you post out of the way juuuust before the random few minute window that it might have gotten enough attention to not get pushed down.
With 3 or 4 dedicated subs, each focused on a type of content, this problem gets solved. Now the Meme sub can have as many memes as our hearts content and they're only competing against other memes. The Pics/Videos sub could host all of the Sunday Gunday stuff, and people who want that know that's what they're getting when they go there on a Sunday. Other days they know they'll get Trump Babes, or pics of your dogs with MAGA hats your wife knitted for them, or whatever else. The Discussion sub would be isolated from all of that stuff, and it would only be for people actually talking about stuff. Advice, recommendations, ideas and conservative philosphy, religion, diets, whatever. But it wouldn't be competing against 50 memes and 15 guns posts for every one discussion post. And the News sub would be the place to be during big events as you won't have to deal with as many reposts. We get so many news story reposts now because someone will post a news story, ten minutes later its bump off the front page by memes, someone else sees the front page and doesn't see the story there, so they repost it. Ten minutes later someone does it again. And again. And again. If all news stories were in the same place and only in a place for News, if you're there for news you see it all and only that. Faster to get updates and breaking developments, less repost clutter.

Taking into account the reality that I can’t drop what I’m doing to go supervise at the polls, not that that would even make a difference if this post is true as my vote can be cancelled remotely online, what cam I realistically do?

It has nothing to do with voting online
You can get into any persons voter registration page with just their name and DOB. The site itself says if you print a ballot then it invalidates your mail in vote. People don't even have to fill out the printed ballot, just cancel the votes of anyone they know basic details off facebook. This also doxxes people revealing their address and political party.
Anyone who says they "changed Ted Wheeler's vote" is incorrect they just clicked the option for Trump on the ballot to print out. They may have cancelled his mail in vote however.
And the site is now down for maintenance. This is happening in other states too but so far only WA is confirmed

So we have a situation where people that sent in their mail in ballots, regardless of who they voted for, can all be cancelled just by a string of Print button clicks.
I was first made aware of this entire thing back in 2012 when a friend on Facebook contacted me to tell me there was an issue with my ballot (signature mismatch that wasn't resolved until after the election, which is another issue with mail-in-ballots). He apparently thought it was a great idea to go through all his Facebook friends and look them up on the SoS website to see if they had voted or not. He thought he was "doing his part" to make sure that everyone got out there to vote. He's also a staunch liberal and was perfectly aware that I was not.
Anyway, that incident freaked me out enough to remove my DOB from every single social media platform that I could. I also unfriended anyone that I didn't want to know my address or political affiliation just to be safe (since you're always going to get people giving you birthday wishes on Social media).
Some might even say this was evidence of leaving the door open for “widespread” voter fraud... not our media of course, but some honest people with brains.
And even if they can't do that, which they can, they can see who you DID vote for, allowing for voter intimidation... but I suppose that would require a violent group of thugs willing to threaten your life and property. It's a good thing no group fitting that description is active in those two pacific northwest states...

This is misinformation. Oregon was already solidly blue before mail in voting (measure 60 was passed in 1998 which made vote by mail our only method of voting). The last time Oregon was red was when Reagan ran for his second term in 1984. Our last red governor was in 1979.
All I know is I've always voted conservative since my teen years (Reagan), and I used to at least occasionally have something or someone I voted for win, but once the vote by mail was solidly in place I pretty much never saw any more wins anywhere at all.

I have always hated our mail-in system in Oregon - it’s a no brainer that it is ripe for fraud. Mail in started in 1988 and Oregon has been blue ever since.
1988? Maybe for local elections but Measure 60 wasn't passed until 1998. That is the measure that switched us entirely to vote by mail. Our first Federal Election conducted by mail was 2000. Oregon hasn't had a red governor since 1979 and hasn't gone for a red president since Reagan's second term in 1984.
Our vote-by-mail system is crap, but it isn't why we're blue. We have vote-by-mail because we were blue already. Who knows though, maybe we would've flipped by now if it was never instituted in the first place.
Edit: Until Measure 60 was passed, I believe it was still required that each county maintain at least one physical polling location.

Public voter rolls list political party in many counties. You can stop at a government office and get a cdrom with all registered voters in many places. Definitely no chance of fuckery here. Registered Republicans getting run through a ballot invalidation process, you better believe it.

For all of the affected voting sites: Having someones Name and DOB will allow you to view their voter registration (home address) and their current ballot selections if they have voted.
For Oregon: You can update the ballot selections. It will require you to return the electronic print out by email, but you can do so without a signature. An Aussie in the original 4chan thread provided proof of this process. You can also update their voter registration information.
For Washington: You can request a new ballot, but it must be returned physically with signatures. The impact though is that requesting to update the ballot this way invalidates the original ballots for that person even though new one is not submitted.

It’s been a long night. Here’s a comment I just made in another thread to bring anyone up to speed and counter the “online voting” argument.
It has nothing to do with voting online You can get into any persons voter registration page with just their name and DOB. The site itself says if you print a ballot then it invalidates your mail in vote. People don't even have to fill out the printed ballot, just cancel the votes of anyone they know basic details off facebook. This also doxxes people revealing their address and political party.
Anyone who says they "changed Ted Wheeler's vote" is incorrect they just clicked the option for Trump on the ballot to print out. They may have cancelled his mail in vote however.
And the site is now down for maintenance. This is happening in other states too but so far only WA is confirmed

So we have a situation where people that sent in their mail in ballots, regardless of who they voted for, can all be cancelled just by a string of Print button clicks.

I was first made aware of this entire thing back in 2012 when a friend on Facebook contacted me to tell me there was an issue with my ballot (signature mismatch that wasn't resolved until after the election, which is another issue with mail-in-ballots). He apparently thought it was a great idea to go through all his Facebook friends and look them up on the SoS website to see if they had voted or not. He thought he was "doing his part" to make sure that everyone got out there to vote. He's also a staunch liberal and was perfectly aware that I was not.
Anyway, that incident freaked me out enough to remove my DOB from every single social media platform that I could. I also unfriended anyone that I didn't want to know my address or political affiliation just to be safe (since you're always going to get people giving you birthday wishes on Social media).

This is misinformation. Oregon was already solidly blue before mail in voting (measure 60 was passed in 1998 which made vote by mail our only method of voting). The last time Oregon was red was when Reagan ran for his second term in 1984. Our last red governor was in 1979.
All I know is I've always voted conservative since my teen years (Reagan), and I used to at least occasionally have something or someone I voted for win, but once the vote by mail was solidly in place I pretty much never saw any more wins anywhere at all.

I have always hated our mail-in system in Oregon - it’s a no brainer that it is ripe for fraud. Mail in started in 1988 and Oregon has been blue ever since.
One thing rats do to consolidate power is institute all-mail voting. Example: Colorado.
1988? Maybe for local elections but Measure 60 wasn't passed until 1998. That is the measure that switched us entirely to vote by mail. Our first Federal Election conducted by mail was 2000. Oregon hasn't had a red governor since 1979 and hasn't gone for a red president since Reagan's second term in 1984.
Our vote-by-mail system is crap, but it isn't why we're blue. We have vote-by-mail because we were blue already. Who knows though, maybe we would've flipped by now if it was never instituted in the first place.
Edit: Until Measure 60 was passed, I believe it was still required that each county maintain at least one physical polling location.

The only thing I have going for me is that nobody knows my politics unless its word of mouth because I don't use social media and haven't for 10 years. But still, I imagine a scenario where they cancel all the votes and then autofill D on all of them.
Public voter rolls list political party in many counties. You can stop at a government office and get a cdrom with all registered voters in many places. Definitely no chance of fuckery here. Registered Republicans getting run through a ballot invalidation process, you better believe it.
The post is accurate, it’s bad in Washington. First name, last name, and birthdate is all you need to cancel an already submitted vote and print an online replacement ballot. I could invalidate the vote of every one of my Facebook friends. No wonder Trump doesn’t bother to campaign here.

I just went and looked. If someone wanted to do this, they need your full name and birthday. Not hard to get, but it does make it a little tougher if you're not someone with your information out on the web.
Names and birthdays aren't that hard to get with social media these days. Its still weird that with just someone's name and birthday you can see their address AND be able to cancel their vote by invalidating their mailed ballot. Just think if someone could cancel a few percentage of voters for local elections.

As a quick recap for what has been going down, and for the love of god don't actually fuck with any of it.
For all of the affected voting sites: Having someones Name and DOB will allow you to view their voter registration (home address) and their current ballot selections if they have voted.
For Oregon: You can update the ballot selections. It will require you to return the electronic print out by email, but you can do so without a signature. An Aussie in the original 4chan thread provided proof of this process. You can also update their voter registration information.
For Washington: You can request a new ballot, but it must be returned physically with signatures. The impact though is that requesting to update the ballot this way invalidates the original ballots for that person even though new one is not submitted.
