Oh I know, but even before all this they still did it at least every time I checked. It’s just not worth it to me to drive 26 miles to see Jurassic park, ghostbusters etc.

Thats odd because the ones around me would always have new releases. But I do remember a few years ago that the drive ins had to purchase new projectors that were around 100k each, in order to play the new HD movies. So maybe the ones by you never made the switch?

It's funny because the drive-ins near us (three within an hour drive) were only playing older movies this summer because nothing new came out and I'd much rather drive/pay to see those. Problem was most of them were still garbage I wouldn't even watch for free on TV. The only double feature I even considered was Back to the Future and Smokey and the Bandit. You can't account for the bad taste of the owners.
