It’s literally what they are doing. Labs will still get reimbursed, but you get the full reimbursement if testing is resulted in 48 hours from collection. It incentivizes hospitals to bring testing in house, which they should have at this point. If anything this hurts the national chain labs like Quest and Labcorp, who were taking 7 days to result shit out. If your hospital system hasn’t figured that shit out yet then they fucking suck at their job, that's literally the number one priorty of hospital admins. I work for two different hospital groups in CT and both have 24/7 in house testing avaiblabe for Emergency Surgery, L&D and Psych Patients. Furthermore, we just went live with more in-house testing this week, so routine shit (pre op, routine screening, etc) that we were sending to a reference lab is now being performed in-house because you guessed it, money! Why give that money to a reference lab when you can perform it in house.
