Personally I love colored patterned socks. You just have to coordinate with the rest of the outfit if your going to wear them professionally. The problem is he makes them a statement piece when they should be an addition.
The statement should be the whole outfit and how you present yourself, which is a shame bc his suit is VERY nicely cut.
The only way I see those socks working is on a discount store pimp suit.
TLDR: Dark tie + Blue suit + bright pink socks = terrible.
When it comes to Trudeau in general, he seems to think feminism is replacement for leadership and bright socks are a replacement for a personality. A box factory manager is more interesting than he is.
You can add color. It just has to be done right so it doesn't over power everything else. 🤷♂️.
These socks would only work if the rest of the suit had bright pinks and purples. I don't know too many people that could pull that off in a professional manner with out looking like a discount store pimp.
I've got a lot of very loud socks but they're not for meeting with leadership.
Not every day are client or leadership meetings, that's when they'd be fine around the office. But if you're working with people outside your own team you gotta leave that shit at home.
That said, I haven't worn trousers in a year now so my opinion probably is irrelevant
Well, it also doesn't help that he's using a lighter navy colored suit of all things.
Black goes with everything and everything, same with white (though I find white suits incredibly ugly in almost every circumstance -- personal thing)
Pink and navy not my favorite.
Also I guess it's not so much the colors specifically as the design. Yes, you could do a fashion thing with a matching tie but while I think socks can be cute on my girlfriend with designs like that, in a professional setting I just feel like flat colors are best.
The contrast between Trump and Trudeau there is stark:
Trump went with a much darker shade of blue suit, black shoes, black socks, white shirt. Tie is a lighter blue that accentuates the blues on his suit and matches, especially since dark colors and light colors can work very well together like that.
Trudeau is all over the place: Brown shoes, pink abstract patterned socks, a brighter blue suit, a..lavender? shirt and purple tie.
Had Trudeau gone with a darker shoe and black, blue or even white/lavender socks, his ensemble would look and work a lot better.
So I suppose it's not the colors I'm personally against -- and I'm not saying anything against them specifically, just that I prefer darker colors like navy and black -- but the way he put that outfit together is just all over the place.
I still stand by: those are the kind of socks that my girlfriend would wear, not me.
In most professions, wouldn't a guy come off like a complete fop if he wore patterned colored socks even if they coordinate with the rest of the "outfit"?
This flashy, yah. I don't know anyone that could pull that off.
Pattern socks are not new. argyle pattern is the typical pattern that's been around for ages. It's easier to get away with having a more bright color as the "stich line" in that pattern. If you want to go with full color like above.... It's got to be all neutral colors (Blues, Grey's, Tans, ect)

I have colorful Mario and cartoon socks but I wouldn't wear them with a suit or even in public.
Those are novelty socks for novelty occasions.
No you don't wear them professionally same with novelty ties.
What if you're a novelty PM?
Yeah, it's a massive clash in that instance.

For me, I generally just like black.
The colors are for my girlfriend, to be honest.

Those socks wouldn't work at all, because they're pink and he's a male. I won't call him a man because he isn't one.
