A small group of people with the right search parameters and knowledge of the case could get thru that volume in a few days. This tech is not unique to the fbi and private sector have this tech (I previously worked w fbi on this sort of stuff they are actually slower than private sector in adopting new faster tech) there is NO excuse to have sat on this. Would have been fairly inexpensive and fast af to go thru the data.
One MacBook Pro (probably a 1 TB SSD) could be imaged and verified in less than a day. Another day or so to parse it with any forensic tool (I’m partial to Magnet Forensics tools) and you’re up and running with a case you can start running keyword searches against.
I’m lazy and even I could have a preliminary report done in a week. A few weeks to a month for a final report, assuming I knew what I was looking for.
